Open Door Ministries exists to provide practical help and hope to people in urban Denver who are homeless or low income. Title of Position: Nehemiah Leadership Initiative Director (NLI)

Supervisor: ODM Program Director

Hours: Full-time; 40 hours/week

Compensation: Salaried with option to raise support; Generous benefits package

Sabbatical: Eligible upon approval

Required Meeting Attendance: ODM Monthly Staff Meeting and Staff Trainings Regular meetings with Supervisor Monthly Director’s Meetings

Job purpose: To develop and lead an eight month leadership and spiritual development program for college-aged (and older) individuals.

Nehemiah Leadership Initiative is an intensive and immersive experience designed to grow participants in their knowledge of urban ministry, theology related to God’s heart for those in communities impacted by racial, economic and social injustice, and ministry/spiritual/self-leadership. The director will design and lead participants through the curriculum, while collaborating with outside organizations to supplement learning and directors of other ODM programs to determine participant placement for their ministry hours. The director will also oversee ODM’s Urban Immersion and Intern Program.

Duties and responsibilities:
Nehemiah Leadership Initiative

  • Research and develop curriculum for NLI program
  • Engage and collaborate with other ODM directors to determine best placement and work responsibilities for NLI participants
  • Actively recruit students for NLI by means of school visits, church visits, speaking engagements, virtual opportunities through programs like Handshake, and social media.
  • Be engaged in the process of leadership development with NLI participants
  • Model responsible standards regarding work, dating, other relationships, finances, and personal conduct
  • Manage and facilitate conflict resolution Coordinate with other community organizations in finding teachers/presenters to engage the curriculum materials
  • Prepare and submit monthly ministry reports, provide statistics and outcomes, perform various administrative duties
  • Recruit, train & oversee volunteers, leading in a way which helps them grow and utilize the gifts God has given them
  • Look out for and protect the spiritual, emotional, and physical health of the NLI participants
  • Assist NLI participants in clarifying their values and in understanding their abilities, interests, limitations, and goals
  • Grow enrollment to eight program participants within two years
  • Oversee maintaining of the NLI apartments, coordinating with the ODM Maintenance Department
  • Manage program budget and report expenditures for all three programs
  • This position is required to attend Open Door Fellowship Church or Westside Church Internacional 24 times within first year of employment

Internship Program

  • In addition to NLI, ODM runs a summer internship program for college-aged students from the end of May through mid-August every year.
  • Responsible for collaborating with other staff (HR & Exec team) on a recruiting plan
  • Develop curriculum for weekly meetings with all interns
  • Plan and carry out an orientation week and a “closing ceremony”
  • Work with HR Coordinator on ministry placements for interns

Urban Immersion Program

  • Direct the Urban Immersion program which takes place primarily in the Spring and Summer. UI is ODM’s outreach to suburban and rural churches in which we give students and adults the chance to participate in service learning trips to our two campuses in Denver.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as e-mail and phone correspondence with group leaders, deposit and payment reminders and tracking, and coordinating group schedules.
  • Directly oversee (up to) three summer interns who will run the summer UI program
  • Lead Urban Immersion groups (or find another staff to lead) who come in non-summer months

Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office & Google documents
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education required
  • Minimum five years in urban ministry role required
  • Ability to facilitate discipleship through individual and group Bible study
  • Previous supervision experience, and training/experience in working with Gen Z are a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $49,220.00 - $70,620.00 per year
