Key Job Responsibilities (and KPIs for each: what success looks like in this role):

The position provides specialized assistance in several aspects of Archdiocesan real estate matters, as well as general support for the Director of Real Estate and Director of Construction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Departmental Liaison for Communications

o Functions as the primary information intake and dissemination resource person to parishes and third parties;

o Handles a variety of inquiries regarding a wide range of land, building, and historical matters relating to archdiocesan and parish properties, and responds to routine inquiries and requests, either verbally or in writing.

Transactional Matters

o Responsible for assisting in preparation of real estate transaction documents, leases and other miscellaneous real estate documents for review by Development Manager;

o Oversight and coordination of real estate closings with Development review.

Due Diligence and Research Responsibilities

o Order and do initial review of title commitment and related documents;

o Conduct preliminary review of surveys and other due diligence reports, while working with the Director and consultants to coordinate changes, corrections, etc.

Property Tax Affairs

o Assistance with preparation and filing applications for tax exemption for real and personal property in parish and/or Archdiocese ownership;

o Coordination and management assistance with annual filing of tax exempt property reports for archdiocesan, parish, and Catholic Charities properties;

o Possible coordination of payment for taxable properties at both the parish and archdiocesan levels.

o Researching and utilizing electronic management systems and on-line resources to assist with tax filing streamlining.

Record Keeping

o Maintain and revise a weekly departmental project report;

o Maintain a lease expiration calendar and contact parishes and tenants regarding renewals, extensions, etc.;

o Provide basic administrative support in the areas of file maintenance, processing of bills and receipts, and mail handling.

o Continuous upload and filing of pertinent real estate documents into Real Estate Database.

o Assist in data management and report preparation.

~ Assist the Real Estate Development Director with specific projects as requested.

Other Duties As Assigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Associate or Undergraduate degree is desirable, with relevant work experience in real estate.

High school graduate or GED required. Additionally, must have relevant work experience in real estate and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as proficiency in searching public records electronically.

COMPETENCIES and QUALIFICATIONS:
Have a positive and supportive attitude toward the Catholic Church, her teachings, and her work;

~ Refrain from public promotion or approval of any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals; Broad-based work experience in the public sector, preferably involving legal matters, real estate, or public relations;

A knowledge of real estate principles and terminology;

The ability to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, data management and on-line tools;

Creativity and quick intellect and an analytical mind;

A flexible personality which enables the candidate to work well with various members of the religious community at large, all levels of staff within the Pastoral Center, and businesses within the community;

Pragmatic problem-solving skills and a cooperative, service-oriented attitude and a commitment to teamwork.
