Position Title: Strategic Communications Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director. Works with the staff team and volunteers to manage congregational communications and amplify interest and engagement in
First Universalist Church of Denver.

Experience: Skills and creativity in digital content production and content management, knowledge of and experience with online platforms, and ability to help the community connect internally and externally.

Compensation: $24 per hour
Hours: Part-time, 26 hours a week
Position starts: Tuesday, September 6, 2022
Schedule: Flexible and coordinated with the Executive Director.
Benefits: The position is eligible for paid sick and vacation leave and matching

401k contributions after one year of employment.

  • Robust and cross-platform writer and communicator who can work fast, is detail-oriented and meets deadlines.

Responsibilities and Duties
Publications & Promotional Materials

  • Oversee production of the order of service/bulletin for Sunday worship services. Make the template and provide editorial guidance to volunteers or other office staff in the updating, proof-reading, printing, and distributing of the weekly bulletin.
  • Collect and edit article submissions for the email newsletter weekly and, as instructed by the supervisor, write articles related to major church programs/office announcements.
  • Edit, layout, proofread, and publish other documents as assigned by the supervisor (e.g., brochures, Connections Guide, Annual Report, Canvass/Stewardship materials, program area brochures, sermon reprints, promotional flyers & posters, brochures, or material on church programs such as Social Justice initiatives, Adult Spiritual Education, etc.).
  • Promote church events through multiple church communication channels.
  • Oversee creation of marketing slideshows for display on church screens and update monthly or as time allows. Create the template and support volunteers in updating the content.

Volunteer Management

  • Demonstrate ability to recruit and manage volunteers in keeping with the responsibilities of this position. This is an excellent opportunity for growth for individuals with limited supervisory experience.

Web Site Design & Maintenance

  • Provide website maintenance/updates for the church website weekly, as directed by the supervisor, and in keeping with current church events (weekly service information, etc.).
  • Update the appearance and content throughout the website to keep it relevant and attractive.

Communications & Social Media

  • Maintain an overall communications strategy adaptable to changing technologies and addresses the communication needs of the congregation and staff.
  • Coordinate sending email announcements to members (as a whole or subset mailing lists) to promote events or communicate critical information within the church.
  • Work with other staff to support their use of templates and mailing lists in Constant

Contact.

  • Select and order literature for displays throughout the building.
  • Develop and maintain social media presence for the church via Facebook, Website,

Twitter, etc.

  • Manage messaging on an external electronic sign.
  • Design or coordinate the design of signage as assigned by the supervisor.

Program Support & General Expectations

  • Assist committees and staff with publicity development and communications as approved by supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings as required by supervisor.
  • Provide job-related support to other program areas as assigned.
  • Work with committees and or task forces as assigned.
  • Flexibility to perform timely and unexpected tasks.
