Full Job Description

SNAPSHOT

Foothills Bible Church is a healthy and growing church that has been in the city for nearly 50 years. What began as a Bible study for a small group of people has grown into a church with over 1500 members who are impacting Littleton, Colorado. Nestled in the foothills just several miles from downtown Denver, Foothills Bible Church sits on over 25 acres of property at the base of the Hogback, the gateway to the Rockies. Foothills is a Bible church with a heavy emphasis on serving the community and building faithful followers of Jesus. Foothills Student Ministry is poised for even more growth with the leadership and vision of a student pastor who deeply loves reaching unchurched teenagers.

HISTORY & CURRENT STATUS

Foothills Bible Church’s mission is to help people become faithful followers of Jesus Christ. For almost 50 years, it has faithfully been advancing the Gospel with strong Biblical teaching. Two years ago, after a rigorous evaluation on how well the church was reaching the lost and determining what kind of environment and culture was present, the leadership of Foothills adopted a new and relevant vision: ‘Everyone’s welcome because nobody’s perfect and God has big plans for your life’. The church noticed that they were growing and had become a large congregation, some key elements were missing if they were to make every single person feel accepted long enough to hear the Gospel. That vision overhaul has had two profound effects on the church community. First, new people who normally felt they were not welcome at church, have heard the message and are coming and growing in Christ. Second, the church body has been radically changed. They are now more focused locally than ever to actively pray for and love their neighbors. You can see a video about the vision here.

The church campus is on 25+ acres in the Denver metro suburb of Littleton. The ministry in this community is predominately middle to upper middle-income families. With more than 80% of adults participating in small groups which are referred to as Growth Groups (G2s), FBC has a vibrant multi-generational approach with an emphasis on families that is evident in growing kids and student programs, along with a pre-school and kindergarten operating during the week.

FSM has a dedicated building that the students have actually named, "The Shed." This two-story complex filled with rooms for small groups, Café, a basketball/volleyball court, and an Auditorium for corporate worship is a dynamic asset in facilitating viable ministry to students. Just behind The Shed is a hill that is used for tubing in the winters. The large, grassy field and open space also create a fun environment to facilitate outdoor games and activities. The Student Pastor at Foothills will be given high trust in utilizing all available resources to reach the students of Littleton.

STUDENT MINISTRY APPROACH

Foothills Student Ministries (FSM) is the student ministry of Foothills Bible Church. It is of significant importance to the leadership and adults of this church. With an average of approximately 85 students meeting on a weekly basis, this ministry is ready for growth and visionary leadership.

The students of FSM are ministered to in both corporate and small group gatherings throughout the course of the month. Small groups are a big deal at FSM and Foothills as a whole with approximately 80% of the entire church is involved in small groups! Foothills places a high value on biblical teaching/preaching and instructing young people to live in light of God's word.

Summers are typically filled with international missions trip opportunities ("Go Trips"), summer camp, and fellowship activities for students. Winters, since it is ColoRADo, afford a myriad of trip and event options to plan for students such as skiing, tubing, and other winter activities to connect with students in a meaningful way.
