Basic Functions
Coordinate and sustain youth ministry for middle and high school youth. This is not an office job, nor is it to be just a catechetical session with teens. In conjunction with the Archdiocesan vision for parishes, we want you to form relationships with these kids so they come to know that God is love, become aware of our ministries at Christ the King, and learn to outreach their gifts with family, parish, and school.
Teamwork and communication are imperative with the pastoral staff, parents, and volunteers. You will need to express knowledge of age-appropriate pedagogy in working with teens and forming the Gospel.
This effort is in conjunction with our Family of Faith series for Elementary age children and other parish operations/activities, especially those that focus on building relationships and being of service in Jesus' Name.
Create communication resources with the youth and parents (personal outreach first, then YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, bulletin/message, parish website) reaching out to youth within the parish boundaries, not excluding working with neighboring parishes, local outreach, and diocesan events
Administrative Expectations
Be familiar in compliance with all Archdiocesan requirements for youth ministry
- Launch the recruitment, training, and support of volunteers
- Promote our parish paradigm for ministry in collaboration with the pastoral staff
- Teamwork with parish events that encourage and involve our youth
- Maintain annual budget for the youth department
B.A. in Theology or one pursued a/o related experience
Catholic in good standing, with a working knowledge of Catholic catechesis and formation techniques geared for youth
Creativity and flexibility; a willingness to move in different directions when necessary
Able to make decisions and problem-solve within a team setting
Verbal and written skills required. Some proficiency with Word, Xcel, Microsoft Office, and IT skills are a plus
The established living situation in W. Denver area; comfortable with winter driving conditions
