Essential Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Coordinates the budget planning process for Catholic schools. Distributes templates, provides training, and answers questions as local administrators prepare their budgets.
- Receives and reviews school budgets, as required by the Superintendent.
- Coordinates the salary scale for teachers and administrators. Ensures the distribution of these scales each year. Provides ongoing training in salary scale usage.
- Works with Human Resources and the Coordinator for Certification to maintain the database for school personnel.
- Coordinates the application process for Archdiocesan financial aid. Works with the Superintendent to award financial aid to qualifying schools.
- Coordinates the Archdiocesan E-Rate program, working with any retained E-Rate vendor(s). Provides for ongoing communications and training for E-Rate to the Catholic schools.
- Resolves accounting issues related to Journal Entries, Bank Reconciliations, Statements of Activities, and Statements of Financial Position, in close coordination with the Finance Department of the Archdiocese.
- Maintains the finances for the high school athletics conferences.
- Assists schools with long-term financial planning, as required by the Superintendent.
- Maintains financial data. Creates finance reports as required by the Superintendent.
- Attends meetings and events as required by the Superintendent.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related filed, with five (5) years of professional-level experience.
- Preferred: Experience in school personnel (particularly Catholic school finance); MBA in accounting, and/or CPA.
- General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices.
- Modern office procedures and practices, including record keeping and data security methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable and general ledger.
- Knowledge of principles and practices on non-for-profit accounting a plus.
- Ability to maintain high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
- Demonstrated history of maintaining confidentiality concerning financial and contributors' files.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel are required.
- Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
- Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
- Must be able to multi-task and retain accuracy in an environment of competing deadlines.
- Effective oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Good Spanish spoken communication skills strongly preferred.
- Good spelling and grammar required.
- Possesses integrity, diligence, and dedication to the Catholic educational mission of the Archdiocese of Miami.
- Must be a practicing Catholic.
