In-Kind/Volunteer Specialist

Primary Purpose:

The In-kind/Volunteer Specialist is responsible for recruiting, training and supporting local volunteers and community partners. The incumbent works closely with the local office to ensure that volunteer and partner engagement aligns with the needs of clients and staff. The Volunteer Coordinator is also responsible for documenting all volunteer and community engagement as well as cash and in-kind donations in accordance with the local office requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.).
  • Collect information on availability and skills and vet volunteers for suitability.
  • Maintains appropriate records of all cash and in-kind donations.
  • Arrange for appropriate training when needed, ensure the purpose and philosophy of the organization and its actions is clearly communicated.
  • Assign responsibilities to the right people for special events.
  • Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale actions such as furnishing apartments for new refugees.
  • Arranges pick-up and delivery of donated items from local donors to the Matching Grant program.
  • Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed, providing additional supportive training as needed.
  • Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events as well as assist in recruiting additional volunteers to support the local office needs.
  • Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments
  • Reports monthly activities to Resettlement Program Manager and his/her designee.
  • Track partner and volunteer contributions, including contact information, hours of service, cash and in-kind donations, and other data as required.
  • Keep informed of refugee and immigration issues, using current information to educate the broader community and raise community awareness.
  • Accept other duties as assigned, including transporting clients in personal vehicle.
  • Ensure that all volunteers are adhering to Covid related policies (i.e. social distancing, masks and testing) as recommended by CDC and/or local government.

Qualifications:

Education: Associates Degree in marketing, communications, human services, non-profit management or a related field or 3 years direct experience in a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience with fundraising strategies, including, but not limited to, executing successful special events and facilitating successful affinity groups. Experience in recruitment and supervision of volunteers in a faith-based organization. Experience with non-profit management and preparation of funding applications. Cultural sensitivity is essential.

Other Skills:

Highly organized, self-starter with strong verbal, written, presentation and training skills. Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to, overall computer experience and marketing, social media and public relations. Ability to work flexible schedule, including early and/or later meetings, as needed. Valid driver’s license and adhere to the CWS Driving Policy.

Special Requirements:

  • Covid vaccine required.
  • Must complete motor vehicle record check.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.
  • Background check required.
