Episcopal Service Corps

In a press release, the church announced that it will be opening its 2022-2023 service year.

The Episcopal Church is looking for young adults aged 21-32 to join the service corps.

It also searches for those who want a "transformative outreach and discernment experience."

Episcopal Service Corps manager Wendy Johnson reiterated their guiding values and principles.

According to her, the volunteer group's commitment centered on service, prayer, and justice. Aside from that, the Episcopal Service Corps also values leadership, community, and vocation.

"These values shape and inform every aspect of a service year," Johnson emphasized.

"They are what set us apart from other post-graduate options," she added.

Benefits of Corps Members

The Episcopal Service Corps provides benefits to its members, according to the press release.

It reportedly assists its Corps members with their vocational and spiritual discernment.

The Episcopal Service Corps also helps them elevate their leadership ranks, the report said.

Through this, participants can attain higher leadership positions in their respective churches. It also improves their skills, which gives them the ability to lead their community groups.

Additionally, participants in the service corps also get food and transportation allowances. These small stipends will aid them in their daily expenses.

The Episcopal Service Corps also provides housing and healthcare coverage to members.

Young Adults Urged to Apply

Based on the press release, the church has urged people to participate in the service corps.

Young adults may reportedly start sending their applications online on Monday, Nov. 15.

The church will also hold a virtual open house before the launch of the online application.

The online open house reportedly intends to answer questions about the application process. It will take place on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 3:00 p.m.

The virtual open house will feature former and current Corps members, the press release said.

The church stated that interested applicants could also answer an online discernment test.

Corps Members Serve Community, Churches

The press release reported that participants assist communities and churches.

Corps members also aid non-profit organizations in the locality and the community.

The church said that around 80-100 young leaders take part in the service corps each year.

These corps members dedicate over 120,000 hours to help the community, the report said.

Furthermore, participants assist in rural ministries, healthcare, and homelessness support. They also reportedly provide help in immigration, refugee settlement, and housing justice.

Apart from that, corps members give academic intervention to at-risk students.
