St. Luke in the Fields calls applicants for school chaplain, ministry associate position; invites Episcopalians to apply

The St. Luke in the Fields in New York City, New York, has recently issued an applicant call for school chaplain and ministry associate positions.

Interested applicants may send their application with a resume, and cover letter addressed to Fr. Andrew Ancona at aancona@stlukeinthefields.org, as reported.

The deadline for submission will be on Saturday, Aug. 27.

School Chaplain, Ministry Associate Positions

As per the press release posted by the Episcopal News Service, the church of St. Luke in the Fields in New York is looking for a full-time school chaplain and ministry associate to the rector's office.

The school chaplain will reportedly spearhead the programs and activities organized by the church, such as Sunday services and school community programs.

Meanwhile, the qualified applicant will reportedly be responsible for teaching religious education, classroom instructions, and character development. The official will also serve as a pastor to Grades 4 to 8 students of the school.

Accordingly, the successful candidate will supervise the worship life of the students in the school by encouraging the involvement of the children in the needs of the community.

Also, the chaplain will reportedly work with the Chief Officer of DEI, Dean of Service Leadership, and the Dean of Students in supporting the students and their families.

Moreover, the ministry associate will reportedly be leading and managing the outreach and service programs of the Church of St. Luke in the Fields.

As further discussed, the ministry associate will be responsible for organizing, recruiting, and overseeing the volunteers, clientele, and their safety during the program or activity.

Additionally, the qualified applicant will be working with the associate for Children Youth and Family Ministries to assist its programs and will be part of preaching, mass, and rotas, as reported.

The ministry associate shall have the following qualities:

  • Able to work with an Anglo-Catholic parish
  • Easy to jive with children and their families
  • Effective communicator
  • Can address the needs of the community
  • Support and assist the group of people, including children and teens

According to the post, the successful applicant must be an ordained Episcopal priest.

The two positions will reportedly work 40 hours per week with the Head of St. Luke's School and will be divided into the following schedule of responsibilities:

  • 20 hours per week as the School Chaplain to St. Luke's School
  • 20 hours per week as an Associate for Ministry
  • 12 hours per week (Saturdays required) for Outreach
  • 8 hours per week at the Ministry Assistant for Children, Youth, and Family Ministries
