Description:
Under the leadership of the Director of Faith Formation, assists with all matters related to parish faith formation programs. We are seeking someone who has both the heart of a minister and is also willing to take on a good deal of administrative responsibilities. He/she is responsible for all registration, scheduling, preparation of materials, and data entry into the Faith Formation software program. He/she is prepared to assist or lead ministries as needed. He/she maintains strict confidentiality in all parish and diocesan matters of concern.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Faith Formation:
Assists the Director of Faith Formation with various tasks, such as assisting catechists, working with Faith Formation families, and mentoring teen volunteers in FF
Assists the Director of Faith Formation with ministerial tasks as needed; is prepared to assist or lead ministries as needed and can substitute for Catechists not in attendance
Provides onsite support during weekly Faith Formation sessions, Catechesis Sessions, and Feed Your Faith events
Maintains weekly attendance records
Notifies Churches of Baptism of Sacraments Received
Coordinates teen volunteers and carline volunteers for Faith Formation
Notes and maintains all relevant data for each family in the Parish Faith Formation Program
Distributes materials to parents of students as needed and requested.
Maintains a well-organized filing system of all paper files.
Records and delivers messages, in writing when necessary
Oversees the registration process and data entry
Treats every visitor, caller, or service person with courtesy, cheerfulness, and respect
Keeps workstation organized to provide an efficient use of space and time
Assists pastoral staff with office work and contributes to team effort wherever possible.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
High School graduate with three to five years’ secretarial experience.
Two to four years’ experience in parish, pastoral center or other related entity preferred, along with knowledge and understanding of church organization and operational procedures
Practicing Catholic required.

Organizational/Interpersonal Skills:
A high level of organizational and interpersonal skill is required.
Attention to detail and working well with others is also required.

Language/Communication Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals, articles, and periodicals.
Must have good problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
Conversational Spanish helpful, but not required.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply appropriate mathematical concepts and operations such as addition, multiplication, and division.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Personal Qualities:
A baptized Catholic Christian who is willing to enter into the faith life of the community in which he or she seeks to serve.
Personal qualities should include a willingness and ability to assimilate new information and ideas, to participate in continuing education to maintain expertise, and the ability to relate well and collaborate with supervisor and volunteers. Ability to organize and motivate volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good organizational skills; ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, and to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:
The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar.
Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form.
