Description:
Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando is actively seeking a custodian/maintenance employee who will be responsible for the cleaning of buildings and maintenance. Maintenance for the parish buildings and grounds including semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and other minor repair work.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleans and resupplies restrooms.
Cleans church and parish center (vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, etc)
General cleaning and disinfecting using approved solvents and appropriate tools.
Performs drywall, painting, and light carpentry work.
Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on equipment and tools.
Removes trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area; recycling materials.
Sets up and breaks down equipment and furniture for functions when required.
Services and reports mechanical malfunctions.
Is aware of, reports, and removes any possible safety hazards.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Requires up to one year working in a similar situation.
Individual must be experienced in building and grounds maintenance work; have knowledge of and skill in using Industrial tools and equipment; and have the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida drivers’ license. Candidate must successfully pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training.

Reasoning ability:
Individual must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The performance of these essential functions must be without a physical accommodation of any sort. They are as follows:
Balancing, carrying, climbing, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, walking and talking. The employee is required to lift up to 75 pounds and climb ladders.
