Position Title: Director of Events, Community Partnerships, and Facilities
Ministry Area: Facilities
Reports To: Executive Pastor
Status: Full-Time; Salaried; Exempt

Summary
The Director of Events, Community Partnerships, and Facilities oversees the best utilization of our facilities. Maintains existing relationships with groups utilizing our facilities. Takes initiative to seek and develop new relationships with individuals and community groups looking for meeting or event space. Envisions possibilities within our building and works to make these dreams reality. Manages facility use with effective collaboration among clergy, staff, church members, and outside community partners. Supervises and collaborates with Maintenance Director and maintenance staff to ensure safety, maintenance, and good stewardship of all church properties.

Connect:

  • Raise 40% of church budget revenue with facility rentals.
  • Network with outside community partners and market facilities available for rent by community partners.
  • Screen, approve, and schedule all building usage by outside community partners.
  • Communicate effectively with community partners.
  • Serve as staff liaison to outside community partners. If unable to be liaison for a group, assign the group to another staff member for connection to church.

Lead:

  • Oversee facility operations, including but not limited to: scheduling security for church and outside group events; scheduling cleaning service, maintaining on-call list for fire and security alarms; programming access control system for key fobs, exterior doors, garage door, and elevator access; planning ahead for scheduled maintenance/repairs; etc.
  • Supervise Maintenance Director, Maintenance staff, Safety/Security staff, Church Administrative Assistant, and Director of Technical Arts.
  • Serve as staff liaison to Board of Trustees.
  • In conjunction with Trustees, develop process for facility rental and usage by outside groups. Ensure that approved process is followed. Balance use of building for ministry use and for revenue generation.
  • Ensure all facility maintenance, repairs, and upgrades occur in a timely manner. Work with Trustees, Maintenance Director, maintenance staff, and Director of Technical Arts as needed.
  • In conjunction with Trustees, annually review and evaluate adequacy of all insurance coverage for all church properties as well as assess liability for all church sponsored or endorsed activities.
  • Serve as registered agent on corporate paper work.
  • Serve as church vehicle safety coordinator. Process driver forms, maintain church bus, and schedule use of church bus.

Collaborate:

  • Work with Maintenance Director, Maintenance staff, and Safety/Security staff to maintain a safe, secure, and clean facility.
  • Work with Church Administrative Assistant to process facility requests, schedule events, and maintain church calendar.
  • Work with pastors, church staff, church volunteers, and guests to prepare our facilities for ministry programs and outside events happening here at First Church.
  • Coordinate with Director of Technical Arts in regards to any technical needs for events.
  • Work with Finance Department to steward finances for facility related expenses as well as to invoice for outside groups utilizing facility.
  • Consult with Trustees in creating the Facilities Operating Budget.
  • Along with Trustees, Maintenance Director, and Director of Technical Arts, solicit and evaluate all quotes for church equipment, services, and property repairs. Keep record of all vendors used by the church and review contract agreements.
  • Partner with staff and laity to ensure appropriate and hospitable use of facilities. Including special events such as concerts, baptisms, funerals, and weddings.
  • Attend Trustees meetings, staff meetings, and other required meetings.

Communicate:

  • Coordinate with Communications Director to advertise and market upcoming events.
  • Communicate any cleaning needs to the cleaning crew in a timely manner.
  • Promote, communicate, and embody the vision, mission, and core values of First Church.
  • Receive feedback appropriately and make improvements as needed.
  • Ask questions, initiate conversations, and reply to requests in a timely manner.
  • Ask for help when needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university is required.
  • Five to eight years of related experience in managing personnel and fulfilling duties as listed. Sales and/or marketing experience is beneficial.
  • Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
  • Competent computer skills and knowledge of internet software, Word, and Excel. Able to operate church database system.
  • Strong commitment to Christian faith and theology of the United Methodist Church is preferred, but not required.

Other:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and effectively cope with the challenges that may arise from working with a variety of people and equipment in a church setting.
  • Must be able to ask questions or to ask for help when needed.
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team.
  • Must pass a background, fingerprint, drug test, and reference check.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 30 lbs. or more.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
