DEPARTMENT: Discipleship
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time- Salary [Exempt]

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Pastor of Mission, this position is responsible for planning and executing discipleship strategies developed by the equipping team in concert with the Director of Women’s Discipleship. The main elements of the role will include discipleship via small groups (of various forms) by connecting the people of FPCO to each other and into the life of the greater church and the Sunday morning experience and creating a culture of warmth and relationships before and after worship, including the formation hour.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Engage the congregation (especially the men) in personal relationships with our strategic priorities in mind (Equipping & Relationships)
Recruiting leaders: Identify and raise up leaders for new equipping and relationship opportunities within the life of the church. These leaders should be equipped to gather and lead groups of people in the life of the church.
Building Lay Involvement: Identify discipleship minded champions to join a lay group of strategists and executors of the discipleship vision for Sunday mornings and for groups
ministry.
Develop a strong identity and presence for Men’s Ministry
Develop a strong identity and presence for the groups ministry of FPCO
Lead by Example: To become a church with a culture of small groups we need to be invested in them as leadership. Always be leading at least one small group of men, or couples with the discipleship strategies of the church in mind.
Create on ramps into discipleship opportunities both for the congregation at large but more specifically men in the church. (Example: social gatherings with key men in the community to stir interest and meet men who want to engage in discipline relationships)
In partnership with the Director of Mission, develop strategies for discipleship combining equipping and sending (Discipleship & mission).

QUALIFICATIONS

Unmistakable in their passion for pursuing Jesus Christ and sharing that with others
Must have a passion for working with people and advancing the ministry for the glory of God.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products
Undergraduate degree strongly preferred
Previous ministry experience is highly desirable.

Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to connect and build relationships with staff and diverse groups of people
Skillful influencer and ability to engage/recruit volunteers

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunities to move about. In rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles
Located in a comfortable indoor area
Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable
