The Food Ministry Assistant enhances the Office of Family Stability Program by providing front desk support to clients and staff. The Food Ministry Assistant handles a wide range of administrative support related tasks. The Assistant must have the ability to interact with clients and staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

General functions:

  • Train and supervise volunteers assigned to the food pantry.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective operations of assigned Mission Markets
  • Schedule volunteers and assign duties.
  • Coordinate space and office organization; maintain paper and electronic files.
  • Type correspondence, compile data for expense and statistical reports.
  • Maintain an on-going assessment of all products (food and non-food).
  • Perform administrative support tasks including emails, data, scanning, reports.
  • Have accurate knowledge of food resources and prices.
  • Prepare purchase orders.
  • Prepare timely and accurate information regarding pantry operations.
  • Facilitate daily food service cleaning and maintenance of pantry (including freezer/refrigeration).
  • Participate in disaster preparedness and response to emergency needs.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and guidelines.
  • Provide accurate statistical information such as Key Performance Indicators, Inventory, pounds and purchase amounts.

Requirements:
Requires a High School diploma, basic math and computer skills for correspondence and inventory control, with at least two years’ work experience required. Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both verbally and written. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office 365, including Word and Excel.
