Description:
Under the leadership of the Pastor, the Director of Liturgy is responsible for the preparation and celebration of Catholic Liturgy and Rituals. He/She provides leadership in the planning, execution, and celebration of all parish liturgies, and coordinates other liturgical ministries; also educates the parish in areas of liturgy according to the vision of the Second Vatican Council and assumes administrative responsibilities relevant to the position.
The Director of Pastoral Ministry manages the different ministerial programs and the volunteer program for the parish. In this capacity the Director of Pastoral Ministry is responsible for recruiting new volunteers, maintaining communications with existing ministries/volunteers, and coordinating activities and scheduling ministries/volunteers for all liturgies, special events held at the church, and all other volunteer ministries.
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in Sacramental Theology, Scripture, Pastoral Studies, Music, or a related field and certification in Liturgical studies or certification in a diocesan liturgical formation and certification program for liturgical ministry; minimum 5 years’ experience in liturgical functions; thorough knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy and liturgical preparation, principles of catechesis, fundamental theology, Scripture, and sacramental theology. Proficient in audiovisual production, ProPresenter, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, YouTube, and RealPlayer. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
ORGANIZATIONAL/ INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
A high level of organizational and interpersonal skill is required. Attention to detail and working well with others is also required.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
A baptized Christian who is willing to enter into the faith life of the community in which he or she seeks to serve and lead. Personal qualities should include a willingness to keep informed of liturgical pastoral developments and to participate in continuing education to maintain and further expertise. Personality qualities should include a sense of prudent balance of enthusiasm and patience, and an ability to work in collaboration with others.
