Pope Francis in his Message for the 50th World Communications Day said, "It is not technology which determines whether or not communication is authentic, but rather the human heart and our capacity to use wisely the means at our disposal.” Creating an intimate encounter through the use of technology is the goal of the Media Development Manager. The Media Development Manager stays current with technology advancements to spread the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in a way that is in line with good stewardship of the diocese’s resources and is relevant to the people of God. The Media Development Manager maintains all social media for the Diocese of Orlando and Catholic Charities of Central Florida. He or she also manages our Faith Fit app and makes sure the podcast library is current. He or she also operates the video streaming equipment to livestream special celebrations and events of the diocese.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintains social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) for Diocese of Orlando, Catholic Charities of Central Florida, and St. James Cathedral.
Responsible for tracking analytics and growing the audiences on all social media platforms. Also makes recommendations for enhancement and effectiveness.
Researches any new opportunities for new social media platforms and presents pros/cons to leadership on diocesan involvement.
Properly brands all social media with diocesan logos.
Maintains app for the Diocese of Orlando – providing links to fresh content, stories, podcasts, health tips and headlines daily.
Follows diocesan guidelines for local program development.
Trains local program producers/hosts to submit podcasts for diocesan app and website. Approves and promotes program topics from local hosts each week.
Assists with diocesan media relations as needed.
Manages audio and video streaming of special events for the diocese and livestreams events as appropriate.
Professionally communicates and interacts with staff members, management team, and diocesan officials.
Juggles multiple projects and is able to meet tight deadlines.
Serves as resource to Bishop’s Office and other offices, ministries and church leaders to manage recordings for various media opportunities.

. Requirements:
Practice of the Catholic faith is required. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related area.
Bilingual in Spanish and English is required, as is knowledge of the Catholic Church and its teachings.
5-8 years broadcasting and/or streaming experience in radio or TV and business management experience is helpful.
Knowledge of software for video streaming and audio editing is helpful.
Requires flexibility with regard to work hours and with project assignments.
The working hours of this position is limited to an 8-hour day with a schedule responsive to parish hours of service. The individual must have flexibility to work weekends in order to cover parish/school/entity celebrations/events. He or she must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.
