Position Title: Membership Coordinator
Ministry Area: Discipleship
Reports To: Executive Pastor
Status: Part-Time (20 Hours/Week); Hourly

Summary
The Membership Coordinator connects people to ministry opportunities here at First Church. This role requires knowledge, ability to learn, and comfort in using computers, email, social media, and Realm (our church database and directory system). The Membership Coordinator maintains our current membership records in Realm (our church database and directory system) and educates people on how to best utilize Realm. The Coordinator will work in the areas of congregational care, discipleship, and worship to share congregational needs and ministry opportunities. The ideal person will extend hospitality, kindness, and effective communication to guests, participants, and members of First Church.

Organize:

  • Work with pastors, ministry staff, and laity to update and maintain the accuracy of Realm, our church database and directory system. Add and remove participants and members in Realm. Develop and maintain guest, visitor, and new member pathways in Realm. Expand our current usage of Realm.
  • Be available on Sunday mornings and at other church events to promote Realm and to offer Realm trainings so that church participants and members know how to use Realm.
  • Work with pastors, staff, and congregational care leaders to develop process for receiving, responding, and following up on congregational care needs.
  • Assist congregational care team members in organizing Communion visits, Stephen Ministry assignments, birthday mailing lists, birthday call lists,

Collaborate:

  • Work with pastors, staff members, and laity to better utilize Realm.
  • Refer people interested and willing to serve to the staff and laity connected with serving opportunities.
  • Assist pastors and congregational care ministers to respond to pastoral care needs within the First Church community.
  • Assist pastors with new member classes.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Create an environment conducive to positive interaction with staff members, lay leadership, church members, and the community.
  • Adhere to the Children and Youth Policies and Procedures.

Communicate:

  • Receive and appropriately distribute prayer concerns to pastors, staff, and prayer team members.
  • Provide membership and attendance statistics for reporting.
  • Reach out to church participants and members throughout the year with seasonal cards, Communion visits, All Saints remembrance, life milestones (births, baptisms, confirmation, weddings, 50 year members, and deaths), etc.
  • Work with the Director of Communications to communicate clearly and often about ministry opportunities at First

Church.

  • Enthusiastically inform pastors, staff, members of First Church, etc. about opportunities to better communicate through

Realm.

  • Ask for help when needed.
  • Promote, communicate, and embody the vision, mission, and core values of First Church.

Preferred Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s degree and three to five years of administrative experience.
  • Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
  • Embodies and lives the Christian faith. Deeply committed to personal spiritual growth.

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge of internet tools including social media, spreadsheets, word processing software, Google calendar/email, and databases.

Other:

  • Strong commitment to Christian faith. Familiarity with the United Methodist Church structure and Wesleyan theology is helpful, but not required.
  • Must be adaptable, innovative, cooperative, and communicative.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and effectively cope with the challenges that may arise from working with a variety of people in a church setting.
  • Must be able to multitask, organize, and delegate.
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team.
  • Must pass a background, fingerprint, and reference check.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs or more.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour
