Good Shepherd Catholic School is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and enthusiastic qualified teacher certified in the area of Social Science 5-9 or 6-12 for the 2022-2023 school year.  The teacher candidate is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Diocese of Orlando.  Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate curriculum knowledge and ability to deliver standards-based instruction.
  • Develop and document weekly standards-based lesson plans. 
  • Provide grade-appropriate instructional program of engaging and interactive activities/lessons for middle school grade levels.
  • Assess and document student progress.
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Integrate technology effectively into the classroom.
  • Maintains accurate student attendance and academic records.
  • Maintains a safe, orderly and secure learning and working environment.
  • Participates in the semi-annual performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school.
  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters.
  • Supervises and evaluates students, escorts students from building to building and on field trips (being responsible for keeping field trip permission slips as well as student medical information forms).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • The principal assigns specific tasks essential to the function of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field from an Accredited College or University.
  • Valid Florida teacher certificationidd.
  • Practicing Catholics who have prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Employment is contingent on the applicant passing a full background check.
  • Upon employment, individual will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.
  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. 
  • Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. 
  • Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
