The Choir Director is a part-time, year-round, permanent position, with the choir in session from September to June. As a deeply valued and integral member of our staff, our next Organist/Choir Director will direct and nurture our choir averaging 10-15 voices weekly and will support the traditional worship experience through music for between 50-70 worshippers each Sunday.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Pastor in preparation for Traditional Worship Services.
- Meet monthly with the Church Council to discuss music in Traditional Worship S
- Play organ or piano music for all regular Sunday Services offering hymns, prelude, postlude, benediction, offertory, introit, anthems, prayer response, and music during Communion.
- Play for Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Thanksgiving Eve, Easter, and any additional services mutually agreed upon.
- Direct, accompany, and nurture the church choir, when the choir is in session (Sept – June), as well as for special services (Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Easter, etc).
- Incorporate hand bells periodically in worship.
- Manage budgeted funds for new traditional choral music/supplies.
- Arrange for the care and maintenance of the church’s musical instruments, in conjunction with Praise Team Leader and Trustees.
Education, Qualifications, & Experience:
- Proficiency playing the organ and piano required.
- Experience as an Organist/Choir Director preferred.
- Classical training preferred but not required.
- Candidates who are available year-round.
- A background check will be required for the final candidate.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
