The role includes leading such core areas of ministry as:

  • Visitation to the Sick (Homebound, hospitals and nursing home ministries)
  • Bereavement (Funeral and grief ministries)
  • Outreach and Mission (Service and care ministries)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be capable of listening and communicating with respect and sensitivity; have a solid understanding of Catholic faith and tradition, Rites, customs, and services; and demonstrate strong organizational, leadership and team development skills.

For pastoral care, directs the visitation to the sick and bereavement ministries, with responsibility for such tasks as:

  • Coordinating priestly visits for those requesting the Sacraments: Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation. This includes maintaining a schedule for Mass and Communion Services at facilities service by the parish
  • Coordinating the parish ministry to the sick and homebound by coordinating hospital, care facilities, and home visits to parishioners who are ill, convalescing, or elderly, including those who wish to receive Holy Communion.
  • Coordinating the planning and scheduling of Catholic funeral services, including collaborating with clergy, liturgy, sister parishes, funeral homes and cemeteries to oversee tasks necessary to accompany those who are mourning.
  • Recruiting, screening, training, supervising and scheduling volunteers, in compliance with diocesan policies.

For outreach, directs the parish service and mission ministries, with responsibility for such tasks as:

  • Developing and coordinating local outreach relationships and projects that align with Catholic Social Teaching to protect the vulnerable, seek justice, offer dignity to all and value care for creation.
  • Coordinating, developing and communicating with parishioners who seek to serve in outreach ministry.
  • Coordinating parish-wide outreach initiatives on campus and in the community, including assessing community needs and volunteer capacity, creating teams for each project, and creatively executing and marketing outreach events.
  • Serves on the parish leadership team with responsibility for such tasks as.
  • Engaging, accompanying and forming followers of Christ.
  • Collaborating with the pastor, parish and school staff leaders on parish-wide initiatives.
  • Developing inter-ministry opportunities to share faith and service experiences across ministries.
  • Planning retreats and prayer experiences to provide spiritual growth opportunities for ministers .
  • Planning and budgeting for ministry growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred in Theology, Pastoral Studies, Pastoral Ministry
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in related pastoral care ministries, volunteer management, outreach projects; and training/facilitation.
  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings.
  • Must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Catholic Church.
  • Public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • Ability to pass Diocese of Orlando background check and safe environment training.
