POSITION: Pastoral Minister
SCHEDULE: 12 hours a week and flexible to meet the youth's needs and the pastoral ministry program. It will be discussed during the interview.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. Prior pastoral ministry experience. Ability and desire to work with youth, staff, and volunteers of varying faith backgrounds. Valid Florida Driver’s License and good driving record. Practical interpersonal communication skills and group facilitation skills. Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to culturally diverse populations
PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position is responsible for providing a spiritual presence, counseling, and guidance for Covenant House Florida residents, street youth, staff, and volunteers.
REPORTS TO: Supportive Services Coordinator
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate, through communication, an understanding of the Covenant House Florida Mission Statement, philosophy, history, tradition, and values
Provide, conduct, or arrange various spiritual or religious experiences in creative and ecumenical ways to fulfill the needs of youth or to provide an opportunity to experience such services.
Conduct hospital visitation and family support as needed. Assess the ongoing pastoral needs of youth and offer religious and spiritual guidance.
Provide pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, and acting as a liaison towards assistance from another ministry or other avenues as needs indicate. Care for the youth's deeply personal, complex, and often painful conditions.
Provide support, supervision, and training to volunteers and community partners that provide additional support to youth within Pastoral Ministry.
