Description:
Position provides programmatic support and administrative coordination of Family Ministry goals, initiatives, participants and staff. Requires strong communication and administrative skills, a genuine love of children, youth and families, and office or program management experience. Some evening and weekend work hours required.
 

  • Coordinates with staff and lay leadership in the administration and management of family ministry programs and outreach that grow and sustain children, youth, parents, and the Church family as well as ministers to the needs of the local community;
  • Manages communication and information flow regarding program events, staffing needs, scheduling and registration to participants, their families, the Church and community as required or appropriate;
  • Coordinates the Church Nursery program, staying abreast of campus-wide events, proactively addressing requested childcare needs, coordinating and scheduling appropriate support, and maintaining a trained, knowledgeable staff;
  • Acts as the staff liaison to nursery ministry operations, participants and staff, providing administrative direction, ensuring process consistency and coordinating workflow;
  • Coordinates the administrative and functional planning of Family Ministry activities, projects, events and initiatives, including logistical and financial considerations, and advertising and communications;
  • Supports the coordination of all administrative aspects of ministry-related meetings, committees, and functions, including records management, logistical arrangements, calendar coordination, registration and attendance;
  • Supports the ministry integration of new and existing member families by fostering spiritual growth, leading connection to Church and community resources, and encouraging proactive ministry participation;
  • Supports the recruitment, training and coordination of ministry volunteers, ensuring appropriate training, background check, and safety procedures are followed and volunteers are properly vetted prior to ministry participation;
  • Supports program financial administration, including budget management, fundraising, grant and resource allocation, and expense reporting;
  • Understands and supports the Church vision, mission, values and direction, as developed and communicated, proactively participating as a member of the Church staff team;
  • Attends and participates in ministry and program meetings, events and functions, as requested or directed;
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries while cultivating healthy relationships with Church members and their families;
  • Other as deemed necessary by Church leadership.

. Requirements:

  • Support FUMCWP’s vision, core values and commitment to inclusion, inspired by a personal faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Active member of the United Methodist Church, supplemented by regular, consistent participation in the FUMC Winter Park worship congregation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years professional office administration or management experience, preferably in a faith-based, public service or non-profit organization.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships and adapt messages in an audience-appropriate manner.
  • Previous experience working with children and/or children’s programs, preferably in a ministry setting, helpful but not required.
  • High level of discretion and emotional intelligence with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of tact and ownership in a dynamic, challenging setting.
  • Excellent technological skills, including computer software, internet and mobile telecommunications programs and applications.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time-management, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to excel in a diverse, collaborative team environment.
