Position is responsible for managing congregational relations and engagement, leading a multifaceted, integrated and collaborative network of ministries that connect the Church community throughout the faith-life cycle. Effectively cultivates relationships through interpersonal, ministry and community connection, fellowship and discipleship. Supports the full range of activities, teams and partnerships necessary to foster spiritual development and faith formation of and among the congregation. Evening, weekend and holiday work hours are required. This is a part-time opportunity.

This position reports to an Associate Pastor and is an integral member of the Clergy Administration team.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Champions interpersonal relationships and intercommunity connections, proactively leading the congregation toward a deeper, more spiritual understanding of and commitment to faith life development, assimilation and participation;
  • Builds, empowers and nurtures an effective volunteer network of Church members, ministry partners and community leaders in the facilitation of lay leadership development, spiritual discipleship, and ministry collaboration;
  • Provides high-level oversight of and support to the congregational care function, liaising with care ministry teams, clergy, and committees at the operational level to ensure appropriate communication, coordination and continuity occurs;
  • Coordinates the administrative components of Church benevolence program criteria, financial records and constituent communications, ensuring process transparency and documentation confidentiality;
  • Represents the Church and denomination within the local geographical community, participating as appropriate in related forums, roundtables, conferences and other events;
  • Facilitates the Clergy team's on-call and crisis intervention contact process and procedures for congregational care, emergency management and operational continuity purposes;
  • Provides ongoing support of membership strategy and leadership development programs, regularly reviewing and evaluating outcomes, practices and participation to ensure maximum effectiveness, appropriateness and alignment with Church initiatives, vision and mission;
  • Facilitates the management of membership administrative records, reporting and communications in compliance with denomination, Conference and internal retention guidelines;
  • Understands and supports the Church vision, mission, values and direction, as developed and communicated, proactively participating as a member of the Church staff team;
  • Other as deemed necessary by Church leadership.

Requirements:

  • Support FUMCWP's vision, core values and commitment to inclusion, inspired by personal faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Active, spiritually mature member of the United Methodist Church, supplemented by regular, consistent participation in the FUMC Winter Park worship congregation (upon hire.)
  • Demonstrated constituent relations and/or relationship management experience, preferably in a faith-based, public services or non-profit organization.
  • Previous leadership development, organizational training and/or volunteer management experience.
  • Superb relationship builder with the ability to read the room, win over others and quickly build connections.
  • Creative and resourceful thinker with strong collaboration and consensus-building skills, able to work independently and with a team while juggling multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt messages in an audience-appropriate fashion and develop strong relationships with a wide range of backgrounds and demographics.
  • High level of discretion and emotional intelligence with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational management and analytical skills with strong critical and strategic thinking, planning and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent technological skills and computer fluency, including Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn and utilize CRM databases, reporting tools, and other technology/systems.
  • Proactive, progressive thinker with a positive approach and commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion.
