Our Senior Project Architect position is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to design visionary and original spaces for churches. We’re looking for candidates with pioneering creativity, design thinking, and conceptual design skills; a desire to serve churches and an understanding of current ministry culture; an adaptive, collaborative team mindset; and a passion for building amazing spaces. You’ll be the lead architect designing large, custom multi-million dollar ministry facilities that include renovations, additions, and new green site projects. Building opportunities
Assist the local Project Developer in developing relationships with leads, referrals, and contacts to develop project opportunities.

Alignment Phase
Generate creative concepts that help churches shape culture and spiritually form a congregation through their physical spaces. Bring a sense of art and imagination to inspire churches towards new ideas for indoor and outdoor environments that fits the client’s unique DNA. Appreciate church concerns and priorities with an aesthetic perspective and design thinking.

Manage and provide design leadership through the Alignment stage of the Aspen Process. Take ownership of internal team understanding and harmony as it relates to client expectations, commitments, and delivery. Facilitate team collaboration alongside Project Developer to deliver a design that advances ministry within limits of client’s budget and schedule constraints. Work with and manage Consultants to ensure collaborative solution that fits client’s budget. Deliver Design Narratives
and Statements that will help the client communicate design intent to their stakeholders.

Design/Build/Furnish
Manage and provide design team leadership through the Design stages of the Design‐Build‐Furnish phase. Work with Project Developer and Construction Project Manager to provide workflow plans and schedules. Champion creative and imaginative designs, holding tension against budget, engineering,
and other real‐life constraints. Work with internal architectural designers and job captain, internal interior designers, and external consultants and subcontractors to carry out design intent during Design stages. Provide a positive client experience through Design stages and earn the privilege to move to the Construction stage. Transition to construction in a fashion that ensures project success
with respect to client satisfaction and company profitability.

Work Environment

Aspen Group employs about 40 people across the Midwest and Southeast. The Senior Project Architect is part of our Florida team, established in Spring 2020. It’s a hybrid work environment, with the ability to work-from-home a few days/week. Our small office is currently located in Daytona Beach, FL but is moving to the Orlando area. The goal is for about 75% of the jobs to be within a 3-hour radius of Orlando and about 25% of the work outside of that radius, with a small percentage requiring plane travel. We exclusively work on ministry-based projects with innovative and effective churches.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant experience: Seven (7) years’ experience in a relevant architectural design position. Design proficiency and experience required. Workflow management experience required. Architectural License required. Excellent communication skills and understanding of the church market preferred. Revit experience required.

Education: Minimum four-year degree in Architecture.

Knowledge areas: Principles of design and visualization. Ability to understand and interpret budgetary guidelines and project expenditures. Working knowledge of church culture leadership, ministry and facilities.
