The Stewardship Director will plan, prepare and implement the silent and active phases of Discipleship and Stewardship services, including assessing parish financial health, offertory enhancement, online giving, annual appeal, targeted appeals, capital campaigns and feasibility studies. This includes all strategies and activities for donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and relations. The Stewardship Director should be able to foster appropriate and ongoing communication with donors, pastors, school presidents and principals and other key diocesan lay leaders and clergy leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting and guiding a specific number of assigned parishes and entities.
  • Prepares and oversees a structured campaign/appeal plan and timeline, budget, time frames, weekly reporting and financial goals for each phase. Partners with clergy, staff and lay leaders to ensure success.
  • Directs the solicitation strategy for each campaign/appeal, including in person and virtual visits, events and meetings.
  • Conducts donor prospect research and prepares confidential documentation to share with appropriate clergy and lay leaders.
  • Conducts confidential donor surveys for feasibility studies and accurately captures data and develops report with analysis and recommendations.
  • Evaluates and reviews top prospect list from wealth screen, giving history and feasibility study data.
  • Maintains confidentiality of financial, contract and donor information.
  • Educates and trains staff, volunteers and clergy on campaign/appeal activities including timelines of phases, donor-centric activities, solicitation and ethical fundraising practices. Develops positive relationships with parish, school and diocesan entity clergy, staff and lay leadership.
  • Assists with maintaining donor tracking - to manage the cultivation list of the current campaign/appeal prospects, including a relationship, ask amount, solicitation assignments, priority, timing and any notes.
  • In conjunction with the Foundation Data Team, updates and maintains the database to ensure accurate tracking, acknowledgement, and record keeping of constituents and gifts in accordance with The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida policy and procedures.
  • In conjunction with the Communications Director, coordinates the development, production and distribution of all campaign/appeal collateral materials.
  • Creates and maintains historical reference campaign/appeal materials.
  • Coordinates with all diocesan offices and vendors as needed throughout the campaign/appeal.
  • Maintains fiscal responsibility for campaign/appeal budgets.
  • Operates independently, exercising independent judgement on matters pertaining to each parish, or diocesan entity.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising with one to three (1-3) years development experience, specifically with annual giving and/or campaign/appeal experience.
  • Superior relationship and leadership skills.
  • Experience with moves management and donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Community or Catholic Foundation or diocesan experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management or Liberal Arts or similar degree, Master’s degree a plus; or equivalent work experience with three or more years of fundraising leadership in a complex corporate, academic and/or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required and Blackbaud NXT and Luminate software preferred or other constituent/donor relationship management system.
  • Strong decision-making ability and attention to detail.
  • Must be highly organized, accurate and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and set priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as effective personal interaction, influence and experience working with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of digital, social media and emerging online channels.
  • Possess demonstrated ability to work in a church-related as well as service-oriented environment.
  • High level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising, including adherence to Canon 1262 and the Donor Bill of Right.
  • Experience with endowments, major gifts and planned gifts a plus.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • CFRE credential a plus.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic.
  • Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to travel local and Diocesan-wide as well as regionally and nationally and work evenings and weekends as required for special events, meetings, travel, etc.
