ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Formulates, communicates, and furthers the vision/priorities of adolescent catechesis and evangelization with youth throughout the diocese as is the desire of the bishop.
Establishes and maintains a common understanding of youth ministry based on pertinent ecclesiastical documents and serves as a key advisor on such matters.
Analyzes needs/trends affecting youth ministry within the broader perspective of evangelization and regularly reports on findings.
Employs various methods to educate those with leadership responsibilities over adolescent catechesis and ministry throughout the Diocese.
Supports and guides parishes in sacramental preparation pertinent to youth (Sacraments of Initiation, especially Confirmation).
Serves as a specialist, in collaboration with other members of the department and diocesan chancery, with regard to catechesis and sacramental initiation involving adolescents.
Offers support to campus ministry professionals serving in Catholic schools.
Partners with colleagues to utilize department and diocesan communication tools (database, website, publications, etc.), provide policy guidelines, recruit project teams, manage events, establish budgetary parameters, etc.
Collaborates with school personnel, Office of Catholic Schools staff, Parish Youth Ministers, and other diocesan staff as needed to further the mission of Youth Ministry.

Requirements:
CATHOLIC FAITH

Practice of the Catholic faith is required. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in Theology, Ministry, Catechetics, or equivalent.
Five years practical parish-level ministry leadership experience.
Two years practical diocesan-level ministry leadership experience.
Appropriate English language speaking and writing ability for a person in an executive position. Fluency in Spanish is considered a plus.

Possesses the ability to interact effectively in a broad range of situations and deal with the pressure of time and changing conditions.
Shows superb analytical skills, and a resourceful approach to problem-solving.
Sets an ethical and pastoral tone for diocesan conduct.
Able to quickly earn the confidence of those with whom this individual collaborates and coordinates information from secretariat heads, directors, members of various diocesan and parish committees, and clergy.
Demonstrates leadership and resourcefulness as they apply to all areas of responsibility.
Knows and understands the Church’s catechetical documents and publications.
Offers excellent interpersonal/relational skills; works collaboratively with others (including diverse people and personalities, including familiarity and comfortability with cross cultural training).
Able to participate in diocesan, regional, national, and/or other projects as assigned.
Knows how to develop and implement comprehensive ministry programming.
