About this event
At the foundation of Sister Carol’s leadership is her relationship with God. She leads with a Gospel heart and models a hospitality that affirms each person’s human dignity. She leads with the Mission of Chestnut Hill College at the forefront as well with the Mission of the Sisters of Saint Joseph.
On March 23rd at 2:00 pm in the Motherhouse Chapel, we will celebrate a Mass of Gratitude for Sister Carol. This is an opportunity for us as a community to pray in gratitude to God for the gift of Sister Carol and to intentionally pray for her as she prepares to transition into the next season of her life. This Catholic Mass is open to individuals of all faiths in our community – all are sincerely encouraged and welcomed to join in this time of prayer and gratitude. During the Mass, we will ask for the grace to carry the Chesnut Hill College Mission collectively and wholeheartedly as we ourselves prepare for a new President.
At Sister Carol’s request, Reverend Peter Donohue, OSA, Ph.D., President of Villanova University, will be the celebrant for this liturgy. Father Peter and Sister Carol are the only members of religious congregations who are currently serving as Presidents of Catholic Colleges in Philadelphia. In addition to the Chestnut Hill College Faculty and Staff, special guests will include members of the Board of Directors, representatives of the Alumni Board, student liturgical ministers, the SSJ General Council and a few of Sister Carol’s closest friends in the Congregation.
Guests are required to be fully vaccinated and wear a mask in the Motherhouse Chapel. The Mass will also be recorded and made available on the Chestnut Hill College website.
All invited guests are asked to RSVP via Eventbrite by Monday, March 14th.
