Decisions affecting our lives are being made without us & against our best interests. Our voices are not being heard. In times like these throughout history, people have turned to nonviolent direct action, using our people power to disrupt injustices taking place directly, without needing anyone else to stop the injustice for us. Join the United S/SW Coalition on Saturday, August 27th for our first Direct Action 101 Training.

This training will prepare residents to stand for real environmental justice as Philly's historic refinery redevelopment progresses. If Hilco continues refusing to to involve the public in redevelopment planning, refusing to negotiate a CBA with the Coalition, and refusing to follow through on their promise of a carbon-free development, we will be taking non-violent direct action together this fall.
This training will also build participants' skills organizing protests across issues and campaigns. Whether you're fighting for affordable housing, standing against incarceration, or organizing to protect green space and community resources, join us to deepen your understanding of why direct action works, to role play direct action scenarios, and to explore specific action possibilities.
