Assistant Administrator - CACFP Program

JOB TITLE: CACFP Assistant Administrator

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Assistant Administrator (EXEMPT)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: To assist in administering government-supported meal program (CACFP) providing meals to children and youth.

SUPERVISION GIVEN/RECEIVED:
RECEIVED: Director of Government Programs

GIVEN: (i) For CACFP Performance

(ii) Full Time External Monitor(s)

DESIGNEE: Director of Government Programs

POSITION FUNDING: Direct from CACFP

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS: This is a "Very Responsible" position. All work requires high levels of accountability and responsibility. Initiative, tact and discretion are requisite. Skills are performed at a high relative level.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assistant Administrator

Responsible to assist the Director of Government Programs in the overall operation of the government-supported Child and Adult Care Food Program.
Responsible for external compliance, ensuring that all sites are monitored in accordance with government guidelines (frequency, spacing, meal type variance). This includes planning/scheduling all compliance visits and making certain that all monitoring forms are complete, organized and readily accessible.
Conduct monitoring visits to Traditional Child Care centers to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and NDS agreements, regulations and expectations.
Plan, monitor, control, coordinate and supervise the Traditional Child Care center weekly meal ordering system, including the creation of weekly order forms. Responsible to ensure that all food orders are provided to the Operations department for processing in a timely manner.
Locate or develop Value-Added materials and/or activities for sites (e.g. educational materials).
Assist in Program Outreach.
Responsible to ensure that all Traditional Child Care Centers have submitted a current copy of their DHS license to our office. Maintain this documentation in an organized manner for ready access.
Responsible for assisting the Director of Government Programs to ensure that the program has a good public image at each site.
Participate in/Present at annual CACFP training meetings.
Conduct on-site training as requested or necessary.
Answer incoming phone calls, take food orders from sites and handle calls regarding delivery problems and order changes.
Retrieve phone messages from CACFP answering machine.
As needed, travel to sites to drop off and pick-up materials (blank and completed forms and reports, checks, etc.).
Maintain child eligibility information confidentiality in accordance with government regulation.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Government Programs.

REPRESENTATIVE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Responsible for knowledge of and compliance with applicable:
NDS policies, guidelines and regulations

Secretariat and Archdiocesan policies, guidelines and regulations

Have a thorough knowledge of applicable program-related federal and state regulations.
Have a general understanding of child care center, afterschool program and emergency shelter operations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
At minimum, have an undergraduate degree.
Be able to relate well to persons of different racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
Have a valid driver's license and personal car available for work.
Assure the appropriate use of NDS property including assigned vehicle, if any
Be computer literate.
Be able to climb stairs.
Be able to lift and carry 30 lb. boxes.
