Job Title: Assistant Director, Office of the New Evangelization

Reports to: Director of the Office of the New Evangelization

Job purpose:
The Assistant Director works closely with the Director of the Office for the New Evangelization in carrying out the work of the office whose primary purpose is to guide and support the parishes of the Archdiocese in the areas of evangelization and adult faith formation.

Duties and responsibilities:
The Assistant Director is a committed Catholic missionary disciple of Jesus Christ who will assist the Director of the Office for the New Evangelization in all aspects of the office, which includes these primary dimensions:

Offer consultation, guidance and support for pastors, parish staffs and volunteer leaders, assisting them to implement active and intentional evangelization outreach as well as continuous adult faith formation programs on the parish level
Provide ongoing support for the work of the Archbishop's Commission for Missionary Disciples, which serves as a committee of advisors to (1) make recommendations to the Archbishop and (2) spearhead initiatives that create a culture of missionary disciples in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia
Host events, workshops and trainings in evangelization and/or adult faith formation
Interface with other Archdiocesan offices to collaborate on events and initiatives where ministries and audiences overlap
Provide regular communication to parishes and to the broader Archdiocese about local Catholic initiatives in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia through FlockNote, social media and multiple websites
Host the annual Archdiocesan Catholic Women's Conference
Be available to the Archbishop for any other Archdiocesan-wide projects or initiatives that may arise as needed
Minor administrative work such as taking phone calls, processing invoices, taking registrations and other paperwork

Along with assisting the Director in the overall work of the office listed above, the Assistant Director will also specifically be responsible for the following:

Oversee specific projects generated by the Commission for Missionary Disciples as they are developed
Develop pathways for the growth and spread among parishes of nationally-recognized parish evangelization ministries such as ChristLife, Evangelical Catholic, Catholic Christian Outreach, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students and others
Coordinate and maintain parish networks that run specific evangelization ministries by facilitating regular network meetings and overseeing their communication with one another
Work with the Director to discern and spearhead initiatives that will grow evangelical initiatives in parishes of the Archdiocese not currently active in evangelization
Manage the social media accounts of the Office for the New Evangelization
Manage the Events section of the monthly FlockNote e-newsletter
Manage the Hope in Christ: Spiritual Support for Addiction website (archphila.org/hope) as well as assist the Director in the management of the office website (phillyevang.org)

Qualifications:
The Office for the New Evangelization is a highly productive work environment in which multiple events and initiatives with many moving parts are often happening simultaneously. The ideal candidate for the position of Assistant Director of the Office for the New Evangelization demonstrates the following qualities:

Practicing Catholic faithful to the Magisterial Teachings of the Church, living consistent with his/her vocation and is animated with a strong sense of the Church's primary mission to bring people into a personal encounter with Jesus Christ
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Theology or related field
Strong knowledge of the Church's vision for evangelization and missionary discipleship
Minimum of 3 years' experience in parish or diocesan ministry
Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational, communication, computer, time management and interpersonal skills
An ability to take direction from superiors while establishing and maintaining good relationships with staff and colleagues
Must have strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite as well as e-communications such as social media, emailing, texting, and other online applications
A proven track record for planning and managing events from conceptualization to production
Bilingual English-Spanish preferred

Working conditions:
Moderate travel within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia required - must have car and valid driver's license
Some weeknight and weekend work required

Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tool or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. Frequent prolonged use of a computer, driving moderate distances, some lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 30lbs, generally in connection with presentations and group meetings.
