POSITION CHARACTERISTICS

This is a "Very Responsible" position. All work requires high levels of accountability and responsibility. Tact, discretion, initiative and the ability to make independent judgements are requisite. Skills are performed at the high relative level. Chance for error and the consequences thereof are high.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for purchasing specific NSLP and CACFP menued food and supplies in sufficient quantities to meet site requirements and maintain minimum inventory. Also purchases food for the Community Food Program when needed.


Responsibilities and duties include the following:

Purchase a variety of products in sufficient quantities to meet site requirements and maintain minimum inventory. Has the authority to decline shipments if product is not as specified.

The value of food and supplies purchases is more than $2 million dollars.

Ensures that all purchases are delivered to the warehouse in sufficient time for delivery to sites and in quantities that minimize inventory.

Ensures that all food and supplies are received in accordance with purchase orders and contract specifications

Obtains ingredient and allergy information on each product purchased

Works with purchasers to find substitutions for products that are short

Reconciles receiving information and invoices for payment

Assists Operations Administrator with the bid process and coordinates contract renewals annually.

Assists Operations Administrator with the input of monthly program menus

Assists Delivery Manager with order input, order adjustments and delivery problems

Responsible for finalizing the daily inventory pull at the warehouse

Reconciles weekly inventory with warehouse

Assists in the annual inventory count at the warehouse

Assures the appropriate use of NDS property.

Responsible for knowledge of and compliance with applicable:

NDS policies, guidelines, and regulations

Secretariat and Archdiocesan policies, guidelines, and regulations


REPRESENTATIVE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Have an understanding of:

Food and supply contracts

Food service purchasing

HACCP and Food Safety Regulations


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate degree required

Computer literate

Be able to climb stairs.

Be able to lift and carry 30 lb. Boxes.
