Introduction
For the past ten years the planning and direction of the school Directors of Institutional Advancement as well as the marketing programs has been managed by the Faith in the Future Foundation (FIF). This includes the administrative oversight and support services for both Raiser’s Edge and Donor Search record keeping information systems required for use by all secondary schools. FIF was also responsible for the overall management of system wide school marketing initiatives. With the management contract lapse on June 30, 2022 there is a need to provide system wide services to the schools in the development and marketing areas.

Job Purpose
Lead marketing, related communications, alumni relations, fundraising, grant writing, and stewardship programs for the 15 Archdiocesan high schools, as well as support these efforts at Archdiocesan elementary schools and schools of special education.

In conjunction with the COO and high school presidents, mentor and manage Directors of Institutional Advancement at the archdiocesan schools in providing training, plan development, program execution, and evaluation with measurable goals.

Manage branding, advertising, and marketing campaigns for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia School system in collaboration with the Chief Communications Officer.

Develop and implement best practices and operational procedures for advancement, specifically development, alumni relations, corporate and foundation relations, and marketing/communications.

Position Summary
The Chief Marketing and Advancement Officer (CMAO) is responsible for the strategic planning and oversight of marketing, communications, development, fundraising, alumni relations, and corporate and foundation relations for the fifteen high schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In addition, the CMAO mentors development and advancement professionals in the Archdiocesan elementary schools with a focus on advancement (fundraising, alumni relations, marketing, communications, corporate and foundation relations).

Methodology
The methodology for marketing and development will be the foundation of the success of the Archdiocesan high schools. Individualized, focused, and strategic planning will be fundamental to each school’s success. The role of the CMAO will be to support each school within the frameworks of the methodology: audit, train, plan, execute, and evaluate. This support includes monthly, individual meetings and being accessible as needed by each school. Additional focus and support will be provided for schools that embark on capital campaigns and other initiatives.

Audit
Sample audits to be performed for each school:

  • Marketing: general, current families and prospective families, SWOT
  • Development: sources, percentage of giving, family programs
  • Alumni: data, outreach, engagement, programs/services
  • School Store: products, inventory systems, promotion, profit centers
  • Facilities: curbside checkup (NSPR guidelines)
  • Events: Prospective Families, Alumni, Benefactors, Etc.

Train
Sample high school staff development/training programs:

  • Development: focused training on best practices, operational procedures, results-oriented tactics, successful days of giving, leveraging technology in fundraising, and grant writing
  • Communications/Marketing Staff: focused training on social media, messaging, SEO, and branding
  • Enrollment Teams: in conjunction with OCE Enrollment Team, offer marketing/communications programs
  • Main Office/Administrative Assistants: customer service and sharing best practices
  • Faculty/Staff: Family approach

Elementary Support

  • Regional programs focused on best practices and results-oriented tactics for

o Principals
o Office Managers/Secretaries
o Advancement Directors
o Parent Associations

Plan
Strategic marketing and development planning with clear benchmarks and key performance indicators will be the foundation of the work of the schools, as well as the CMAO. Planning will be the focus of the summer months of Year One. High schools will develop the following plans based on templates provided by the CMAO: communications (social media), marketing (advertising), development (fundraising), and alumni relations.

Execute & Evaluate
The academic year of Year One will be the focus of the execution of these plans. As evolving documents, the plans will be evaluated on often with updates made throughout the academic year. Formal evaluation will be performed in the summer months of Year Two as planning is developed for subsequent years.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, marketing, or communications

o Master's degree in relevant field a plus

  • 5-10 years’ experience in Development
  • Experience in planning, managing, and executing multi-channel, multi-segment marketing campaigns.
  • Five years of management experience
  • Experience in delivering marketing messages through video, mobile platforms and social media
  • Aptitude for the strategic development of business and marketing plans
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across various departments and create best-in-class content
  • Proficient in MS Office, CRM, Customer Service and Development business software
