JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Grow and coordinate our youth programs to accomplish the mission of “Making disciples of Jesus
Christ for the transformation of our community and world”
2. Model and teach Christian discipleship
3. Build relationships with youth and their parents
4. Actively recruit new youth to become involved
5. Develop, direct, and coordinate a team of volunteer adult leaders involved in youth ministry
6. Implement, and train adults working with youth to follow, Safe Sanctuary practices
7. Communicate with other local youth leaders for ideas, support, and joint activities
8. Network with other staff and volunteers involved in youth ministry
9. Organize weekly meetings of Youth Group and delegate leadership responsibilities
10. Oversee confirmation class
11. Oversee and participate in youth-aged Sunday School classes (currently 2, grades 7-12)
12. Make midweek connection with youth
13. Maintain a record of attendance at all youth meetings and events
14. Work with Administrative Assistant to obtain and care for permission slips, medical forms, and other documentation as required
15. Support the youth by regularly attending church services and other events in which our youth are involved
16. Communicate with youth, parents, volunteers, and the congregation through varied means
17. Plan and lead special events or off-site trips, such as mission trips, lock-ins, retreats, etc
18. Assist in developing, recruiting for, and carrying out fundraising events for youth ministries (eg, hoagie sales, annual spaghetti supper, flower sales, etc)
19. Attend staff meetings or meet with pastor
20. Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Age 25 years or older
2. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
3. Completion of Safe Sanctuary training and all required child abuse clearances (including state criminal background check, child line, FBI clearances)
4. Connection to a church and willingness to embrace United Methodist theology
5. Strong leadership, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
6. Ability to interact with youth in a playful, yet effective and respectful manner
7. Good communication skills
8. Good, empathetic listener
9. Ability to demonstrate faith in action
10. Ability to plan and organize on a long-range basis while remaining flexible to change
11. Ability to demonstrate respect for youth and treat individuals in an age-appropriate manner
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13,500.00 per year
