Duties & Responsibilities
- Staff drop-in center welcome table
- Set up drop-in space daily
- Ensure tables are sanitized and floor is swept of debris
- Make sure computers and TV are set up and ready to be used
- Welcome guests, answer questions about services, and orient new guests to the space
- Remind guests of appointments throughout the day
- Oversee computer usage and phone charging locker
- Assist guests with computer literacy as needed.
- Manage clothing closet
- Sort and put away new donations
- Facilitate clothing appointments
- Log distributed items daily in log book and weekly on the computer
- Maintain inventory of donations and supplies needed to support the clothing closet including clothing, underwear, toiletries, and other needed supplies. Work with the Director of Programming to order and/or promote donation needs (through social media and other avenues) to restock supplies.
- Maintain timely and detailed records as required.
- Provide crisis management and make referrals to needed services including health, mental health, public entitlements, education and vocational training.
- Participate in staff meetings and leadership development activities to support the overall functioning of the program.
- Support volunteers partnering with the center to provide meaningful experiences and a sense of accomplishment.
- Participate in the overall function of the program as needed.
- Serve as an advocate or liaison for individuals with community organizations.
Position Requirements:
- A demonstrated capacity to creatively seek out resources, build relationships and problem-solve.
- Ability to effectively communicate and network with guests, other agencies, service providers, volunteers and staff.
- Ability to analyze socio-economic conditions and identify unmet needs.
- Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors in a fast paced environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
The Center - Philadelphia offers 2 weeks of vacation, 8 paid holidays and 5 paid sick days. The Center - Philadelphia participates in the Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation program. The Center-Philadelphia offers a $2000 health stipend and option to enroll in a 403B retirement savings plan. This position is funded through a contract and is contingent upon continuing funding. This is an hourly non-exempt position. Salary: $20/per hour.
