ACCOMPANIST
POSITION DESCRIPTION
SCOPE AND PURPOSE
The Accompanist will be responsible, in a part-time capacity under the direction of the Director of Music, Pastor, and church leadership. Provide piano, keyboard, and Hammond organ accompaniment for the choirs that will complement all church worship services, other various services, and special events, which reflect the spirit of the church throughmusicc that glorifies
God.
QUALIFICATIONS
The qualified candidate must:
1. Be a person whose life reflects faith in action, behavior, speech, a nd spirit, and demonstrates a commitment to Jesus Christ and His church.
2. Have an undergraduate degree or be actively pursuing advanced studies in Music.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an accompanist.
3. Have the ability to read music as well as play by ear, and be skilled in playing the
Hammond organ, piano, and keyboard. These musical skills should be comprehensive in all music styles: Traditional Gospel, Contemporary Gospel, Classical, Anthems,
Spirituals, Hymns, and Praise Songs.
4. Have the ability to work effectively with the Pastor, Church Officials, Director of
Music and with existing music staff, musicians, choirs, adults, children, and youth with different levels of musical ability. Must be able to work effectively with church staff and members of the community, all in a sensitive, pleasant, confident, positive, and Christian manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Attending rehearsals, worship services, other church services, and special events.
Be available for outside engagements of the Pastor and/or the choirs.
2. Arranging for an alternate accompanist in case of absence subject to the consent of the Director of Music and the Pastor.
