Job purpose

Respond to all requests for pregnancy/parenting services throughout the CSS Community Based Service Division, with special attention given to those with Spanish language needs. Provides comprehensive services to clients seeking assistance with pregnancy and/or parenting issues/concerns. Conduct intake assessment, link to services within CSS and to other community resources as appropriate. Develop and facilitate pregnancy and parenting classes for teens, women, and men to enhance education. Provide some evening pregnancy/parenting at a CSS site or community partner site.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responds directly to all incoming calls/walk-ins requesting services.
  • Conduct initial screenings to determine service needs, schedule appointments, and perform assessments. Conduct home visits as needed, requested or assigned.
  • Provide comprehensive services, linkage to appropriate community resources, and maintains an up-to-date resource book of other service providers.
  • Responsible for services provided to clients, follow-up of services, and monitoring progress.
  • Maintains weekly documentation of services provided and maintains organized client files.
  • Provide monthly service reports of group statistics and outcomes.
  • Actively recruits for programs to maintain consistent client base.
  • Develop and facilitates pregnancy/parenting education groups both at CSS sites and Community partnership sites throughout the CSS as assigned.
  • Provide outreach and services to expectant fathers and client's family members.
  • Provide weekly pregnancy education classes at assigned WIC offices.
  • Responsible for effectively organizing and managing the Diaper Bank; Baby Boutique.
  • Work collaboratively with Parishes in providing programming to address the needs of individuals/families experiencing pregnancy and/or parenting needs at the Parish level.
  • Work collaboratively with other community organizations to provide services.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork required by CSS and funding sources weekly.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings, weekly supervision, and CSS trainings/meetings and meetings/trainings required by funders.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and orientation to the philosophy of the Agency as presented in the Mission Statement.
  • Strict adherence to the Archdiocesan position on abortion.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, child abuse reporting, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, clients, and visitors; cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace and with a diverse client population
  • Knowledge of social service resources and delivery systems to meet a wide range of client needs
  • Ability to organize, efficiently document, and routinely update information
  • May require access to and use of an automobile for timely provision of community-based services
  • May require fluency in predominant language of client population served.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field of study.
  • Fluency in Spanish.

Experience

1 - 3 years of professional experience
