Office for Child and Youth Protection

Job purpose

The Prevention Education Coordinator will coordinate and present child abuse prevention curriculum to adults working or volunteering with children in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Duties and responsibilities

Coordinate and conduct trainings and presentations related to the prevention of child abuse.
Manage training logistics including coordination of settings and organizing materials.
Assist with recruitment, screening and training of volunteer training facilitators.
Works with other staff in the implementation of annual trainings.
Serves as the office liaison with community partners.
Assist with the general office duties.
Represent the organization to the public in person, via phone or e-mail in a professional manner.
Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve the office.
Assist with child abuse prevention efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Criminology, and Sociology or in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Skills
Strong verbal and communication presence is critical
Abilities
Travel within five counties of the Archdiocese is required.
Position is contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check.
Successful completion of required trainings.
Other characteristics such as personal characteristics
Working knowledge of and comfort with Catholic faith and parish life is required.
Experience
Training experience preferred.
Experience with child abuse prevention programming.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing child abuse prevention or any other related trainings.
Strong verbal skills and strong interpersonal skills are important.
Ability to organize work, multi- task, and consistently meet deadlines.
Ability to perform job duties with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Working conditions

This position is expected to be carried out Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekends are required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tool or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 30lbs.
