POSITION CHARACTERISTICS
This is a responsible position. All work requires a high level of accountability and accuracy. Tact, discretion, the ability to relate to people in a positive way and initiative are requisite. Ability to motivate and train is essential. Ability to work under pressure as well as initiate and implement innovation are essential.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This staff person will work closely and with others in the school and summer meals team as well as site staff. Specific duties will vary throughout the calendar year based on the deadlines and workflow of NSLP and SSO. Major areas of responsibility are:
Customer Service: Provides phone coverage for summer and school programs. This includes routine calls, such as weekly food orders or delivery problems. It also includes vetting new summer sites for eligibility. Calls also include those from dissatisfied sites, managers, or parents. Calls from school staff and summer sites may include opportunities for retraining.
Point of Contact: Serves as the primary and logistical point of contact for New Jersey (meals only) and Special Milk schools. Provides training and support. Enters milk orders. Identifies and resolves problems specific to these groups of schools.
Group Trainings: Assists with training meetings for both summer meals and NSLP. This includes invitations, RSVPs, rescheduling, and checking in.
Menus and Production Records: Creates production records monthly for managers to assist them in identifying and serving claimable meals. Assists in monthly distribution of menu and production record packets.
Communications: Creates and distributes emails to special milk schools with reminders of regulatory and logistical details. Sends out other communications.
General
Perform any other tasks as assigned by Director, NSLP.
Assure the appropriate use of NDS property.
Responsible for knowledge of and compliance with applicable:
NDS policies, guidelines, and regulations
Secretariat and Archdiocesan policies, guidelines, and regulations
Complete detail oriented tasks under strict deadlines
Provide feedback to other staff regarding site compliance and problems.
REPRESENTATIVE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Have a thorough knowledge of applicable program related federal and state regulations
Have a general understanding of summer site operations
Be able to relate well to persons of different racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
Be able to communicate and train those with limited educational levels and abilities
Be computer literate in Microsoft Office suite
Possess excellent verbal communication skills
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
Have public speaking skills
Have ability to prioritize a variety of deadlines, demands, and projects
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma and at least 3 years professional experience.
Be able to climb stairs
Be able to lift and carry 30 lb. boxes
Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle
Second language a plus
Maintain current ServSafe certificate and complete required annual trainings as assigned
