Assisting with direct service and relationship building with our Spanish speaking clients, and expanding our Spanish speaking volunteer community. Responsible for building our program ability to better serve, understand, communicate with, and build trust with the many Spanish speaking communities in Norristown, which comprise the majority of our clientele.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Maintaining consistent presence for translation needs in all direct client service venues- food distribution, fielding walk ups and phone inquiries for client needs.

  • Assists in execution of pantry and farm programming that will best meet the needs of our Spanish speaking clients
  • Co-leads our registration team during food pantry operation
  • Coordinates with program managers and leadership on human centered design of services to best meet the needs of our Spanish speaking clients
  • Building trust and gathering context for understanding and meeting the needs of Spanish speaking clients.
  • Cultivates and trains bilingual and Spanish speaking volunteers in the food pantry
  • Partners with Catholic Parishes, other faith communities, schools, and organizations to increase our mission impact in Norristown and beyond.
  • Conducts community outreach, client feedback, and relationship building with Spanish speaking client communities. Provides advice, data, context to leadership team
  • Cultivates and maintains partnerships with other organizations serving the Spanish speaking community in our area.
  • Assists as needed with receiving food donations and with seasonal distributions during Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as various deliveries throughout the year

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have bilingual Spanish/English fluency and comfortable working outside in all weather conditions for all pantry operations.

Good people skills and ability to maintain calm dealing with clients in various situations

Works well in a team, and has flexibility to dynamic work environment

Passion for relationship building, listening to people's needs, providing quality services

Native Spanish speaker familiar with Norristown area preferred

Driver's license and own transportation/Can work independently at different locations

Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, clients, and visitors; cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace and with a diverse client population.

Non profit work /volunteer experience and trauma informed care experience preferred

Requires a college degree./ Ability to lift/carry weighted material of 40 pounds
