Job Summary:
The Senior Network Tech/System Administrator will report to the Director of Technology, PreK-12 and will have support from the Associate Director of Information Technology, PreK-12. The position will collaboratively support the strategic direction and ongoing work of the System Administrator, Senior Network Technicians and the local Technology Specialists. The successful individual will have demonstrated proficiency with cloud platforms, student information systems, data compilation and reporting, effective implementation of systems, network infrastructure, network security, and network/hardware standards.
The position is responsible for assisting in the planning, administration, performance, and support of the database systems implemented across the Office of Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and the respective school system. As well, the position will also provide leadership and support to the Technology Specialists at the identified school(s).
The Senior Network Tech/System Administrator will be able to travel to local schools as well as between the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center, Center City Philadelphia and the Technology Satellite Office, Radnor, Pa.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties):
- Serve as assistant system administrator for Archdiocesan student information system (PowerSchool - Secondary Schools and OptionC Elementary Schools), learning management system (Schoology), video conferencing platform (Zoom), and support for other systems in the Office of Catholic Education and Faith in the Future Foundation as identified and as needed;
- Supports the overall management for end-users (16 locations);
- Supports the training of end-users on the respective systems;
- Assist in trouble-shooting school issues and works to resolve in a timely manner;
- Support and maintain software required to enhance the daily operation of current and future programs;
- Provide leadership, planning and support in the migration to any new systems or network additions;
- Monitor system resource utilization and capacity planning;
- Serve as a member of the Senior Network Technicians team;
- Actively assist in the creation of technology standards and the selection process of major hardware purchases;
- Oversee the technology infrastructure at the assigned Archdiocesan High Schools in support of the local Technology Specialist.
- Collaborate with local Technology Specialists to plan and perform network upgrades, expansions and hardware refreshes;
- In collaboration with Senior Network Technicians, identify infrastructure vulnerabilities and developing clear solutions;
- Provide server setup and support services;
- Installation, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Internet content filters and routers;
- Assist with set-up of mobile device management and device deployment;
- Attend and present at Technology Specialists' meetings;
- Oversee network related projects for assigned schools dealing in: VoIP, CCTV, HVAC, Access Control, etc.
- Be a champion of network security within the Technology Department and in support of your assigned schools;
- Other tasks and duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field is required; Master's Degree is preferred; Comparable Tech Education is also acceptable
- Experience in school-wide technology is preferred. (4-5 years)
- Ability to think creatively and strategically
- Excellent writing, communications, presentation and design skills
- Experience in training end-users on the various applications
- Organizational skills in scheduling and carrying out assignments, and managing records
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once across multiple schools;
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical skills and database experience
