After leasing space for services for several years, All Peoples Church is gaining approval to build a permanent building for their church.
The church’s website mentioned that as they construct a church-owed facility on Highway 8 in San Diego, they become a light to the nations, generations, and their city.
Light Project
“You are the world's light- a city that is placed on a hill that cannot be hid”- Matthew 5:14
The Light Project is a journey of finding a piece of property, purchasing it, and building a home for All Peoples Church, as stated on the Project’s website.
Moreover, the said project is about becoming a light to the city, the nations, and light to generations added on the website. They informed that by the grace of God and the generosity of several lead donors, All People’s Church was able to buy a property in 2017. They were located in the community of Der Cerro at the intersection of Interstate 8 and College Avenue.
The website said this location is ideal and convenient to many of their congregation. Also, it is visible to others to be a spiritual light to the people of San Diego. Besides, since 2018, the church has been working with community leaders and local land-use experts. So they could ensure that the methods of building a new church facility follow the rules set by the City of San Diego.
Why Church Chose this Land
The church emphasized that its goal is to be a “light on a hill,” a visible and spiritual light to the residents of San Diego. While this property is in a valley, not a hill, it would still be a clear symbol of their faith. They also said that this location makes it accessible to their members and those they hope to become a part of their church. Most of their attendees reside in the communities of Del Cerro, Allied Gardens, San Carlos, and College and are invested in this area.
Besides, ColRich brought the parcel by the city entitlement process, received approval to build 24 homes, and then finalized their property sale in December 2017. But, ColRich has decided not to build homes and offered them to All Peoples Church instead. The church bought it in early 2018, the website added.
Moreover, they are committed to working with the community throughout the project design and review process. The church leaders have taken part in the Navajo Community Planners and Del Cerro Action Council meetings to keep the residents updated on the process.
Message from Lead Pastor
Pastor Robert Herber, the Lead Pastor of All People Church, stated that for 12 years, the Lord has been using the church to be committed to the transformation of individuals, families, the city of San Diego, and the nations.
He added that the “Light Project” is the name of their next initiative as a church and expresses their desire to be a “light on a hill,” as Jesus described. Herber also mentioned that members would expect to hear about the said project over the coming months.
