Passion Week
According to the church’s webpage, the Passion Week at CCO commences on April 10 and ends on April 17. During this Holy Week, the members will pray, worship, and hear the Lord’s Word together.
As shared on the website, each night will offer a unique and bilingual experience in English and Spanish, as various ministries of Calvary Chapel Oceanside, take the lead.
Moreover, it also welcomes everyone. As stated on the webpage, Calvary Chapel Oceanside leads on celebrating the Lenten Season and focusing on the event for an entire week.
The church prays that the Passion of Jesus Christ would empower and embolden His Church to live as He did. It will conduct special services from April 10 – 14 at 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Sunrise Prayer
The Calvary Chapel Oceanside encourages everyone to celebrate Jesus with them. It organized a rare 7 a.m. Sunrise Prayer gathering under the Big Tent on April 15. According to the church, there is no better way to celebrate Christ’s resurrection than by gathering His people, praying, and witnessing the amazing sunrise.
The church will hold services on Good Friday - April 15, at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Easter Services happen on Saturday, April 16 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 17, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Passion of Christ
According to BBC, The Passion of Christ is the story of His arrest, trial, and suffering. The story ends with His death by crucifixion. Moreover, this story cannot be properly understood without the story of His Resurrection.
The elements of this story are the Last Supper, Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, the Arrest of Jesus After the Betrayal by Judas, the Examination and Condemnation of Jesus by the Jews, the Trial before Pilate, and the Crucifixion of Jesus.
According to Catholic Education Resource Center, the Passion of Christ comes from the Latin patior which means “suffer”, which pertains to the sufferings the Lord endured for humanity’s redemption beginning from the agony in the garden until His death on Calvary.
Moreover, according to Catholic Education Resource Center, The Passion Narratives of the Gospels gives the details of the Lord’s passion, and at least to some extent, Roman historians – Tacitys, Seutinius, and Pliny the Younger corroborated these details.
Additionally, the combination of archaeological discoveries and modern medical examination gives an accurate picture of Christ’s suffering.
CCO Women Bible Study, Fresh Encounter for Deeper Faith
The CCO Women Bible Study group will explore some of the hardest questions Jesus asked and His answers – His I AM Statements. The group will meet for this study, beginning March 21. It will last until April 30, 2022.
The registration fee covers all materials, hospitality, and childcare. The church reminds everyone that pre-registration for childcare is required for proper staffing.
Senior Care Ministry
As announced on its webpage, the Senior Care Outreach Ministry is back. The Calvary Chapel Oceanside is currently looking for volunteers to serve the elderly at various senior living facilities.
According to the church it needs servants to teach bible study, to lead worship, and anyone who has a heart for the elderly, to help with service and pray with the residents.
