Canyon Ridge Baptist Church will hold a retreat for its female members with the theme "Wise Women" from Sept. 15 to 17, Thursday to Saturday.
The church posted that the retreat is a Christ-centered weekend, which will be held at Camp Ironwood. They added that they would have Katie Prater, an extraordinary speaker and a pastor’s wife for 40 years.
As further explained on the website, there would be a lot of exciting activities for the ladies. The website said they could hike, go zip lining, and have some quiet moments by the water.
The church also informed participants that they could enjoy having conversations with each other while enjoying a cup of coffee.
The same website stated that there would be four sessions during the three-day retreat. Women would pray, read, and rest, as the website added. Besides, the church would provide a lot of programs for participants.
Details of Ladies Retreat
The church announced to participants that they should bring their Bibles during the weekend getaway. They informed the women that they would be giving out notebooks. Also, women should get their pocket money as advised on the website.
According to them, there are stores and coffee shops in the area that they might want to try. The church also asked participants to bring their retreat gear, such as flashlights, sweaters, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water bottles.
The church also suggested bringing some books to read during their free time.
More importantly, Canyon Ridge Baptist Church informed women to bring modest clothes during the entire retreat. As further explained, all attire must be loose-fitting. The church does not allow participants to wear skinny jeans or leggings.
They also informed female members not to wear see-through shorts during their lake hours. They noted that women should wear tops over swimsuits. Besides, the church said it would be sandy in the desert. So participants could wear comfy shoes for their activities.
Pastor’s Wife, Pastor’s Mother
The Liberal First website revealed that Bill Prater had supported his husband’s calling at Fellowship Baptist Church.
According to the news report, Bill was attending a Bible college when he met Katie, his wife. They served as ministry staff at Fellowship Baptist after they married in 1981, as further explained on the website.
The report revealed that Bill announced on Tuesday, Aug. 2, that he would be stepping down and handing his role to his son, Tyler Prater. The website said Tyler served as a youth and associate pastor at Fellowship Baptist Church.
The website emphasized that Tyler would be the second generation of the family to serve in the church. Bill has been a part of the church for two-thirds of the years since it opened in 1955.
Bill said in the report, “My wife and I have committed ourselves to being Pastor Tyler and Jenilee’s biggest cheerleaders.”
In addition, Tyler mentioned that he wants his family to be a part of something greater than themselves and that only God would get the credit for what they are doing.
He looked back at how God used his family to contribute to a church that began in a residential area and now has a 70,000-square-foot building weekly. He said it is continuously growing.
