The Canyon Spring Church volunteers to be this month’s Survivor Support Team to support the Refuge for Women SoCal Amazon Wishlist Campaign.

The church website announced that the members need to pray and provide the necessities of Women Refuge in the safe house through reviewing the wishlist and choosing the items they wish to donate from March 13 to March 17.

They also reminded their members to choose the “Refuge for Women SoCal’s Gift Registry Address” under the other addresses in the Amazon Shipping address section to ensure that those donations will proceed to the said recipients.

More importantly, members are encouraged to pray for the said survivors. This campaign is more than just providing homes with material needs. Still, most significantly, the church was invited to be a prayer partner over these strong and beautiful women, the church noted.

Refuge for Women

Hope has a Home for women, said on the Refuge for Women website

On the said website, they informed that Refuge for Women is a non-profit, faith-based organization assisting women to overcome their experiences in human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

According to the said organization, sex trafficking is a $10 Billion industry in the United States where there are 80% of victims end up back on the street without a safe recovery home. Moreover, the website revealed that only one house within the twelve states offers safety and recovery.

In response to this community crisis, Refuge for Women SoCal provides safe housing and a long-term program for restoration to survivors of sex trafficking. They informed that there are 281 women who the organization served, they have 11 homes in operation across the U.S, and there are 24 states where care has been offered for the refugees.

They also have been 2,284 hours of counseling for their programs: Emergency, Long Term, and Transitional Program home, as said on their update. Their annual report for 2021 also informed that there had been mental health improvement for the refugees where 28% said they reduced their depression and 35% mentioned that their anxiety and PTSD decreased.

Additionally, ten percent of the women refugees boosted their self-esteem and the rest 30% stated that their overall distress declined, as noted on the report.

Furthermore, they also stated that they offer up to twelve months of safe housing for free with around-the-clock care as clients progress through the evidence-based, trauma-informed programs. They mentioned that they are doing their best to help each female to finish the program with a vision for her future and ready to be successful in sustaining life with dignity and hope.

Heart-Breaking Reality

On the organization's annual report for 2021, they exposed that thousands of women are suffering in silence, lost and forgotten by society. They said these females wake up every morning without any choice and are forced into the horror of sex trafficking or exploitation through violence, threats, drug abuse, manipulation, and homelessness.

As reported by the US State Dept TIP, the United States is the top consumer of paid sex worldwide. With this, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children noted a 93% increase in online enticement reports during the COVID 19 pandemic.
