The City Church San Diego looks forward to giving awards to the nominated dads for their program, Dads are Champion, on Sunday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

The church announced that there would be a strong man competition among the fathers and that they would have a surprise guest interview.  They also prepared big raffle prizes Dads Wanted and would give complimentary breakfast to the champions.

Honoring Fathers

The church’s YouTube video asked fathers just to show up, and they promised free food, a happy wife, and happy kids.

Besides, the congregants would also enjoy the Front Lot Party, where there would be kids' jumpers, face painting, and putt-putt golf, as noted in their video. For those who would be nominated as champions, they would have trophies.

In the video, they also mentioned that Pastor Jerry Mckinney, the lead pastor, would give a message, especially for fathers in their church.

What Makes Champion Dad

The Focus on the Family posted an article on the Asian parent website on why fathers are considered winners. They noted that a few years back, a local study on fatherhood emphasized that fathers need to be more actively involved in parenting. But over the years, the role of dads has changed and now plays a vital role in raising confident, strong children.

The website revealed that being a Champion Dad is a demanding role. Some fathers' shortcomings may make them feel the opposite of a winner. They said the lack of a positive father figure in their childhood might affect his involvement with his kids.

More importantly, they mentioned that being a Champion Dad is mostly about time and foundation. A father could start doing the basics and being consistent in doing them. They noted that the fundamentals of becoming a winning father are through loving, coaching, and modeling.

They mentioned that these are so basic to becoming a father that they would always need to be learned and practiced.

They said these parts are free of choice, yet they noted that fathers could not just love their children and skip the coaching or modeling. Neither can a father mentor them without loving them, the website added.

Another important point they mentioned is that all three basic needs need involvement. They emphasized that no one could take a father’s place when being involved.

Quality vs. Quantity Time

Meanwhile, the same website mentioned that there had been countless arguments over quality time over quantity time. They said kids could not distinguish the difference between these two. Most adults could not know either.

What most people know is that when there is little quality time, there is not likely to be much quality time, the website revealed. P

Parents have to keep track of their schedules and be flexible enough to enjoy unplanned time with their children.

Maybe parents should have learned how to simply “waste time” with them. The website explains that it does not mean just being in the same room. It means being separated on their laptops two meters apart is not quantity but quality time.
