The Ocean View Church (OVC) begins the Ocean View Church You (OVCU) group discussions and fellowship with other adult members to discover Biblical Truth during summer; this program starts from June 8 through Aug. 31.
The church announced that there are various opportunities to connect, and there is one for “You,” which means they have created groups designed for the needs of their congregants.
They also informed members that some of these teams would ask them to buy their materials. They would share a link with the participants in their registration confirmation email. They said that the church would not be selling resources on-site.
Wednesday Open Groups
The church announcement posted that they host various groups every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. These groups include Complement for Couples for both men and women. They added that Pastor Steve, Christa Boshen, Pastor Logan, and Brittany Mabe would lead the said group. This small group would discuss how marriage could give life and hope to an individual and the world.
Meanwhile, led by Pastor Rich Talley, there would be small groups for foundations. Participants would discover the Bible and Jesus’ identity. The website noted that they would also tackle all concerns about His Spirit that He gives to humanity.
OVCU also includes small groups for Reclaiming Victory in Christ for both men and women, led by Anna Hengst. She would lead the group in exploring and discovering resources from God’s word. They would also talk about giving genuine transformation and hope in one's life.
Besides, the church provides Divorce Care. This group is to help them manage the emotional turmoil and find healing from the suffering of separation or divorce. Also, they would discuss practical tools for making decisions. This program would be led by Ian and Paola Bush, as posted in their announcement.
Finally, Sermon Talk It Over is about explaining the Scriptures to those desiring to mature deeper in their relationship with God and with other people. The church designated specific groups for women, men, and military life groups.
Open Groups for Thursdays
The church also holds Clases en Espanol for Hombres & Mujeres. They would discuss how marriage could give hope and life to themselves and the world in Spanish.
Childcare is also provided during Thursday meetings for kids ten years of age and below.
Why Join Small Groups
Core Christianity website mentioned that small group gatherings have been a vital part of the Christian experience.
One reason they note is discipleship. These groups could give chances for Christians to learn from each other as they apply God’s words within close relationships. They added that knowing Jesus is essential to hear from the pulpit, but believers also need friends to assist them in dealing with it face to face.
People would need willing individuals to get to know them so they could help them in their journey with Jesus more faithfully, the website mentioned.
Another reason small groups are needed in the church is that they are for commitment. The website noted that many churches have several guests or occasional visitors “orbiting” the church. These people are thinking of landing but are unsure how to do it.
As posted on the website, small groups could give way to those trying to enter the church's life.
