Faith Community Church will work with Love Acts Ministries and Feeding San Diego to serve food to the community of Mira Mesa on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Christ Community Church.

The church’s website mentioned they would need volunteers to serve from 12 noon to 3 p.m. They added that they require members to help them unload, sort, box, and distribute the food.

Besides, the church asked its members to help lift heavy boxes when they unloaded the truck at noon.

Moreover, Faith Community Church emphasized that the food distribution event is an excellent opportunity for church members to help their local neighborhood.

They welcome families with school-age kids, as added on the website.

Love for Home

In another section, Faith Community Church mentioned that one way to live out its mission is by working with local organizations. Every month they impact their community in San Diego, as noted on the website.

The church’s mission aims to “Follow Well,” “Love Well,” and “Serve Wel.” They explained that their congregation is comprised of various cultures and generations. They all desire to be faithful in living out Jesus’ mission in their city, as revealed on the website.

Effects of Hunger

According to the Feeding San Diego website, it can be hard to determine hunger, but it is present in everyone’s neighborhood. They stressed that hundreds of thousands of individuals in San Diego County suffer from food scarcity.

More importantly, the website revealed that those who do not have enough food do not consistently have a healthy life. They explained that food insecurity has a ripple effect on individuals’ lives.

They added that it could cause high-stress levels and severe health issues.

Hunger, Chronic Disease

According to the same website, when people cannot afford healthy food, they can become stuck in a cycle that could affect their health. They explained that once a chronic illness exists, the time and resources needed to deal with it affect the budget further.

The website said that with insufficient money left over for food and medication, people would continue the cycle that could lead to more serious illnesses.  They added that families facing food insecurity often face several other risk factors.

With these factors, the website said it would be difficult for vulnerable families to maintain good health.

Feeding the Hungry helps the community.

The same website stressed that dismantling the cycle of food insecurity could help their community to thrive. They seek to provide healthy and nutritious food to every person suffering from hunger, as mentioned on their website.

According to Feeding San Diego, their unique model means they could offer more healthy food. They added that they redeem edible, high-quality food that would go into a landfill.

The organization posted that they are working with local groups to keep their food fresh for the community. They immediately redistribute the food to those in need, as mentioned on the website.

The group also explained that when people support them, they are helping them protect individuals and the world.
