First Baptist Church San Diego welcomes new interim Pastor Dr. Clayton Ford, his wife

First Baptist Church San Diego introduced their new Interim Transitional Pastor, Dr. Clayton Ford, with his wife Cheryl on May 26. 

The church’s Facebook page noted that they trust the Lord that He has prepared great things for them and the University City community.

Meanwhile, the church will also hold a send-off luncheon for Pastor Scott Furrow and his family on May 22, as posted on their Facebook page. 

They mentioned that this event was to wish their pastor, who has been serving them for 18 years, well on their new ministry journey. The post even stated they would miss Furrow’s teaching, sense of humor, love, and friendship.

Dr. Clayton Ford

According to the My Email Constant Contact website, Dr. Ford has been a pastor for more than thirty-five years at American Baptist and Transformation Ministries. They added that he worked as the National Chair of Holy Spirit Renewal Ministries for nine years. 

 

Currently, he is serving as HSRM’s National Co-Director. HSRM is a national and international ministry. They are passionate about bringing spiritual refreshment to churches, regions, seminaries, and other Christian groups across the United States and abroad. 

Ford is an in-demand speaker. As the website reveals, he has been a primary speaker and workshop leader for numerous programs. 

These events include local church special events and renewal weekends. He has been invited as a guest of honor to World Missions Conferences, regional and national worship meetings, and spiritual events. 

Ford was invited to some pastor’s retreats, preaching and leadership training, etc. 

The new interim pastor completed his degree at Davidson College in North Carolina. The website also stated that he grew up in Virginia and West Virginia. After experiencing a dramatic encounter with Jesus Christ during his senior year in college, he entered ministry four months later. 

Called to Serve as Family

The same website revealed that Ford married Cheri for forty years. God blessed them with two grown-up children and five grandchildren. His wife wrote five Christian books, as mentioned on the website. Chery is the author of the award-winning Pilgrim’s Progress, retold in modern English and published by Tyndale Publishers. 

Besides, they noted that Cheri is deeply passionate about Jesus Christ and His ministry. She also speaks at women’s retreats and other gatherings. Their son, Billy, is the Lead Pastor at Bouquet Canyon Church in Santa Clarita. On the other hand, Hanna, their daughter, serves as a worship leader, singer, and songwriter. She has produced four CDs. The website stated that the Fords often work together on ministry events.

Former Pastor Scott

On the church’s staff section, they informed members about their former Senior Pastor Scott Furrow.  He became the church’s lead pastor in 2004. He and his wife,twife y have been blessed with two boys, James and John. He finished his degrees in History and Law and Society at U.C. Riverside. 

They added that he got his Master’s in Divinity from Bethel Theological Seminary with a Greek/Hebrew emphasis. The church website emphasized that he is dedicated to preaching the Bible and showing its value today.
