First Presbyterian Church San Diego to hold ‘A Concerto Programme’ featuring Fred Benedetti with Nancy Coto on piano

Fred Benedetti, Director of Guitar Studies, will be featured In First Presbyterian Church San Diego’s Odeum Guitar Duo Series, “A Concerto Programme,” with Nancy Coto on Piano on May 22 at 7 p.m. in the church’s chapel.

The church announcement highlighted that they would be playing pieces from “Concierto de Aranjuez” by Joaquin Rodrigo and “Concerto in D” by Antonio Vivaldi. The same website posted that the general admission fee would be $15. For seniors, students, and the military, it would be a $10 entrance fee.

Meet Fred Benedetti

Fred Benedetti was born in Sasebo, Japan, and started playing guitar when he was nine, as noted in the School of Music& Dance, San Diego State University. The website highlighted that he was among the 12 selected guitarists worldwide to perform in USC's Master Class of Andres Segovia. “Benedetti amazed the audience with his performance of the (Bach) Chaconne,” noted by Guitarra Magazine on the said event. 

Besides, the musician has also been a performer in the master classes of Pepe Romero, Christopher Parkening, Federico Moreno-Torroba, George Skellariou, and David Grimes. The website also stated that he has performed in many countries, including the United States, Taiwan, and England. Moreover, he has been on stage locally with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera, and the Starlight Opera.

At the moment, they informed readers that he is a teacher at Grossmont College, the guitar studies leader. He is also a member of the guitar faculty at San Diego State University.
