June is Mission Month at First Presbyterian Church (FPCSD). They encourage members to learn and work with others as they collaborate with their local mission on June 11. They invite the congregation throughout June as they listen to many of their mission partners and learn how God is at Work in the World and how they could be involved.

Ben Motoya, Director of Downtown Fellowship, would lead a devotion before the said activity, as posted on the church’s mission. Besides, they noted that in their partnership with San Deigo Downtown Fellowship of Churches and Ministries, their team would join a host of individuals from other churches and organizations. They would have a Community Clean-Up Day and Outreach on the city's streets.

Call to Action

The church mentioned that there would be experienced people who would assist members with communicating with people who live on the streets. They added that the said activity would help them safely become friends with the plight of homelessness on the streets.

Meanwhile, FPCSD Laddle Fellowship distributes groceries to senior citizens and other members of their local neighborhood every Saturday. The church stated that their group would join other Ladle volunteers in giving goods to those in need. This event would happen in the church.

Moreover, the New Day Urban Ministries redeems lives by training those in need to move on with hope. They do this by giving valuable services to the homeless, poor in the city, and veterans. They would also serve those recently released from jail in a safe, home-like environment.

The church mentioned that their group would experience a “day in the life of a client” program. Then they would decide to assist sort clothing and work in a food and snack bag “factory.” If team members could bring their paint clothes, they could help paint the structure inside and out with their project.

Lastly, there would be a year-long residential healing and rehabilitation program at the San Diego Rescue Mission. These programs are for men, women, and children. The team would listen to a short presentation on the work of the Mission.  They would gather some staff and sort living quarters and clothing closets. They also organize hygiene kits and have a general cleaning in their Children’s Center Preschool. They would also have a deep cleaning at their Women and Children’s Emergency Shelter.

San Diego Downtown Fellowship of Churches, Ministries

FPCSD is one of the members of the San Diego Downtown Fellowship of Churches and Ministries. Its website said its goal is to unite the Church and work with the community to serve the weak in Downtown San Diego. They foresee the spiritual and social redemption of the county.

They noted that they are guided and supported by the scripture. The organization’s programs are also based on Holy Spirit and prayer. They work between churches, ministries, and businesses. They also partner with civic leaders and agencies related to the community's welfare. The said organization advocates bearing the collective voice of their members and partners to correct unfairness where they exist.
